Lisbeth Zwerger's illustrations are absolutely from another time and place. Dreamy, creative and very outside the box. Not your average kids book illustrations and were prints available they'd be absolutely fitting to place on the walls of a home and not just in the nursery. Every time I've run into Lisbeth's work in a book it's as if time stops and I get sucked in to the illustrations - the new reworking of old fairy tales and the earth tone shades and a slight folk but modern execution of the illustrations. Lisbeth's illustrations are a treasure in the children's book world and the books that contain her work would be a perfect and special gift for any child. They'd also be a great gift for any art appreciating adult who is still able to pause and take some time to dream.

What a gift ! I am enjoying this book in my old age almost as much as if it were read to me, and the illustrations enjoyed, by my mother.

Lisbeth Zwerger's illustration are lush and gorgeous! I will say that I was under the impression that this was a book ABOUT her and not a collection of stories. I was hoping for a greater variety and some Wizard of Oz illustrations. But that's on me for not reading the description properly. It's still a gorgeous book.

Zwerger's illustrations are truly enchanting; I love them and become lost in them. There is grace and emotional depth in color, line, and sequence. What Zwergen has chosen to "show" the reader, child or adult, nudges the individual to imagine even more. She invites us into yet new dimensions of these marvelous stories.
