not completely windproof
It is very warm, thick and soft, but it is not completely windproof. I like the snug fit. The long length of the front and back bib is exactly the feature I wanted as most designs lack suffice bib and neck length to remain tucked under layered clothing.

Very warm!
Pros...I wore this skiing in Vermont last week in single digit temps and it kept me very warm. I like that it is long and tucks into my jacket. Also it covers my ears. I bought another one and returned it because it only went over the tops of my ears. When you pull the face mask under your chin, you don't feel like you're being choked out.The vented breathing area works very well and still keeps the cold out. And I think it looks kinda badass, sorta like a WW2 fighter pilot. LoLCons...It is fairly thick and my helmet was quite snug while wearing this, almost to the point of discomfort but it was simply a thing to get used to and it went away as soon as I went out into the cold.It is quite loose fitting around the the jaw and neck area. It is not spandexy. (I know, not a real word) This is a purely aesthetic thing, It has nothing to do with performance. I guess the argument could be made that the bagginess allows some body heat to build up in there and help to keep you warmer. It leaves a small area of exposed skin right at the temple area, but the goggles covered it up.Bottom line...This thing does the job and it is now a permanent item in my ski bag for when the temps drop to the You Gotta Be Kidding Me range.

I’d like to have given it 4.5 and here’s why!
Okay, so this balaclava is actually pretty awesome! I was wearing a thinner one with a neck gaiter and was still cold. This thing, I’m wearing just this thing and I’m fine. That said, I use this with a motorcycle and full-face helmet (Simpson ‘Street Bandit’), so I have a few petty niggles:1. They ain’t kidding, it’s thick! My kinda-loose helmet is now VERY snug. This is both plus and minus, for obvious reasons).2. It vents RIGHT into your sunglasses. That black section does an alright job of letting you continue breathing (as in, it doesn’t ever feel like it’s smothering you), but it dumps your hot breath mostly into the eye hole.I will say I have never used my other balaclavas in any other configuration. I’ve used this one as a makeshift scarf here and there, works great!Totally worth buying!

Thick and warm
I purchased this to wear when running in temps below 30. It is definitely a thick, warm material and I like that its long enough to tuck down into my shirt collar. It does not restrict my inhale at all, but I wish the exhaled air could escape a little easier. It became quite damp inside a couple of miles in. Probably not a problem if you breathe out through the nose too. Still working to master that. I like that you can wear it multiple ways and ended up with it in the beanie position before the run was over.

Good down to 40 degrees
This is a pretty nice balaclava down to around 40 degrees, anything below and it doesn't provide the necessary warmth to keep your ears from freezing. If you cover both your nose and mouth it WILL cause some fogging of sunglasses/glasses but it's not terrible. I do like the fact that you can change it into several forms of headwear. I will keep it and use it for those days when it starts off around the 40-degree mark and warms up to the '50s when I can adjust it for less head warmth.

Great product
Husband loves this ski mask! He works outside throughout the winter and loves this ski mask. Yes it’s lightweight and doesn’t cling tightly to his head because he wears glasses. Also noted: that worn the way it’s meant to be worn/covering nose, especially in high winds, his glasses truly don’t fog.Wind doesn’t penetrate the fabric. Made of good quality. Wishes he would have found it much sooner.

Great for skiing
I brought this on a ski trip in January and it was perfect. The fleece is light, but sufficient enough to keep you warm while you are out on the slopes. The area by your mouth and nose is ventilated to help you breathe more easily and so as to not fog your goggles. I really wish they made this in white because it would match my ski outfits better :D but I will definitely use it again.

Great Product
Material and quality are very good. Mask is very warm and I can imagine will be perfect on some -30 degree days that I will be working in. It is also well ventilated, however a little large for my head. But I’m a grown man with a smaller sized dome. Will be wearing this under a hard hat and think that’ll help. Great price, Good buy!
