At the same time, it tells the story of the century and, although it begins just a little before my time, it brought back many memories of how it felt to live through those years. I particularly like this period of history and the changes that families experienced during and following the Second World War. Written with warmth and insight. I have never read any of The Family From One End Street books but now feel I would like to.

Not having read The Family from One End Street, the story from which this book is a development, I wondered if I would enjoy it, but I am so glad I read it. It’s the richly heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking story of a large working-class family, its triumphs and disasters and all those moments in between that make up family life. Great read
Thoroughly absorbing story with very real characters. I particularly like this period of history and the changes that families experienced during and following the Second World War. Written with warmth and insight. I have never read any of The Family From One End Street books but now feel I would like to.

I am in the habit of reading mystery books but this book gave me a delightful respite. I shed a few tears and laughed out loud at times. It was a refreshing change from my normal choices.
