I used to play Mahjong as a kid but haven't played for at least a couple of decades, so I have forgotten how to play. My mother recently gave me her old Mahjong set, but the manual is old and weathered. So I was really excited to find this mahjong guide. I love that this is a set of 4 manuals, so each player gets their own guide which they can reference during the game without having to pass it around. The manual uses large print, so you don't have to strain to read it, and the color photos are clear and great for a quick reference. The quality of the manual is very good with thick, glossy paper that won't tear easily and the print quality is excellent. However, if you are a compete beginner, be warned that this guide is not a step-by-step guide of how to set up, play and score. Rather it is very detailed in explaining the different terms, combinations and their corresponding scores, as well as the rules of the game. The manual covers the basic set up of the game, but is not very detailed. I had to watch a few You Tube videos to remind myself how to set the game up properly and pick tiles. It is perfect as a reference for how to collect, arrange and group your tiles for winning hands, but not a detailed description of how to actually play the game. It also refers to scoring and "paying" the winner but doesn't describe how to do it. You will have to watch videos or read articles online that will help explain those details. Despite this though, it is a great reference to help mahjong players, new or experienced, especially with current rules. So if you intend to learn how to play mahjong, this is a must have once you have mastered how to set up and begin to play.

This four pack of Mahjong cards for 2025 or 2026 is a great reference for beginners. The guide is printed on well processed white paper. The quality of the print and clearness of each word and letter is easy to see. The directions are easy to follow and the printed tiles in the book really help a person out who is just learning the game. The book is also not too long. This gives a beginner just enough information to start the game and work on their skills. Everything is easy to follow and well thought out. This book is definitely well worth the money especially if you are just learning the game.

I received a 4-pack of this Mah Jongg Reference Manual. The booklet is 27 pages and the pages are made of a thick laminated cardstock. The booklet is in color and the pages lay flat when opening. It has a brief description of how to play the game. I do think someone who has the book should know a bit about the game in order to understand this booklet. The best part of the booklet is how they describe each section of the Mah Jongg Card by section: 2025, 2468, Any Like Number, Quints, Consecutive Run, 13579, Winds-Dragons, 369, and Singles and Pairs. Every line in each section has an example of how the tiles can be used. I learned Bam, Crak, Dot and the booklet uses the terms "Bamboo, Characters, Circles. This booklet will be helpful if you are just learning the game and have a bit of experience. I don't think this booklet will help for those who don't know anything or for anyone who is experienced in playing. At the time I received these four (4) reference booklets, they were priced at $20 which is $5 per card. I think this is a reasonable and competitive price. I'll pass the other three (3) booklets to a few of my friends who are just learning the game.

Having 4 in the pack is another win so you can give up to 4 players their own copy as you learn the game. Overall, this set has been a great companion as I learn the game, and it’s made understanding Mahjong far less daunting and a lot more fun.
