This reflective heat pad is really effective at cutting down the heat when stick welding. I have a tendency to get my balance hand a little too close to my work sometimes and you can really feel it when you get down toward the end of the electrode. You really shouldn’t get that close to the arc but sometimes it can’t be helped. It seems to be well constructed with leather and double stitching. And the reflective material is holding up so far after the first few uses. The elastic is pretty tight so you can’t just slip it on over your glove while wearing it. I had to put it over the glove first before putting the glove on my hand. The pad is flexible and not too bulk so it still feels natural when welding. We’ll see about the durability but so far I can highly recommend this as a nice value purchase for PPE.

These heat shields are very handy when welding and helps to prolong my welding gloves. Even though they are welding gloves they can still burn after extended use and welding spatter getting on them. With these heat shields my gloves are staying in good shape longer as the heat shields protect my gloves. They also help to minimize the heat that absorbs through the gloves to my hands. The only change I can suggest would be to make the straps that go around your palm/wrist a little longer and adjustable. I have bigger hands; the heat shield straps fit around my gloves but a little tight at times.
