AMES 54" Heavy Duty T-Square

I recently picked up this AMES 54-inch heavy duty T square for a garage remodel I’ve been grinding away at, and it’s been a lifesaver for getting those drywall sheets sized up correctly. The build quality is definitely there. It’s rigid enough that it doesn't flex when I'm running a utility knife against it, which is exactly what you want when you're trying to keep your lines straight on a big project. Having that extra length compared to a standard 48 inch square really helped out with the oversized panels, and it’s held up well to being tossed around the garage floor and leaned against the studs. ​The only reason I’m not giving it a full five stars is that it’s a fixed design, and there were a few times during the remodel where it would’ve been nice to be able to adjust the length or the head by a few inches to fit into some tighter spots. It’s a bit of a "one size fits all" tool, which is great for the bulk of the work, but a little more versatility in the adjustment department would have made it perfect. Still, if you’re doing a lot of hanging and need something that won't warp or give you wavy cuts, it’s a solid piece of gear to have in the kit
