My baby Syrian adores this! Assembly only took a few mins, and the fixings seem tight. I did use some pet-safe glue on some of the joins after assembly to be sure the walls would stay in, but it wasn't really necessary. I don't think it'll be large enough when he's fully grown, so for young Syrian hamsters or smaller varieties only. The top makes a great platform for him to sit and nosey on.

The hideout arrives flat packed with 8 components that need to be assembled. It doesn’t need any tools as you just align wooden tabs and push them into place. The quality seems good, I was impressed at how smooth the wood feels although it is fairly thin. The hideout doesn’t come with any instructions so I found I needed to refer back to the listing for help is assembling it which then only took a few minutes. The finished hideout looks interesting and I know my grandchildren will love putting it into their gerbils tank as they like providing them with different toys.

I had this for my rescue Syrian hamster - it's a large size but because of the flat roof, I thought she could use it like an extra platform. This came flat packed with no assembly instructions, so you just have to kind of guess which piece goes where (I think you can kind of mix them around a bit). The wood is really smooth and seems safe for chewers, however, when I pushed some of the pieces together, small shards of wood did flick up into my eyes. Unfortunately the roof wasn't very robust, the hamster just kept pushing it off and wouldn't actually use the compartments, so I took it out after a few days as it takes up a lot of floor space. I liked the cut-out styles in the shape hamster faces but I'm not sure they were practical. This might be better for smaller breeds of hamster or ones that are less likely to push the roof off.
