RapidFix UV Fiber Repair Patch 6"x 6", 6121966ES

Accidentally made a gash in shipping container. Other options for fiberglass patches required handling of chemicals and mixing and seemed very messy and time consuming. This was so easy. Took it into a dark bathroom and cut it lengthwise to better fit the gash Then put it back in the mylar bag to protect it from hardening in uv before I was ready to apply. Be aware it does have a very strong smell. I cleaned the area I was applying it, let it dry, took the strip out I cut and pressed it down all around very well then the next strip and overlapped a bit and pressed it down. Within minutes it was hardened and sealed the area. I haven't bothered to paint or anything and it's holding up well and remaining stuck on and sealed. Had it in place for almost 3 months in texas heat and storms with no concerns

I wanted to repair my trash can lid that had split like forked lightning. This product is available in a variety of sizes but I am recommending the 9" x 12" because it comes as a single sheet. Smaller sizes can be irregular (I had one exactly the boasted size and one that was a bit short). The directions are clear and if you wear gloves you won't have any discomfort applying this patch to the area that you want to seal. Having direct sunlight available and a location without it to work while you are applying the patch worked best for my situation. The resin hardens up as expected and the adhesive quality (even bending around at a near right angle) is remarkable. This product has extended the life of my trash can (which I rent from the township so I want it to last forever). I am not certain I would patch a sailboat below the waterline with this, but I would patch anything that wasn't going to be submerged in water.

I purchased and used this item to patch a wear spot on the keel of my kayak. I had previously purchased Gator Patch for the same purpose, so I am going to draw comparisons for those interested. Gator Patch runs a bit more money, LOOKS a little nicer as a finished product (it is smoother to the touch, and has a nicer, cleaner finish). HOWEVER, for the lower cost of this item, it accomplished the same thing just as quickly. I did a little extra sanding to get a smooth finish. This item worked exactly as expected, was cured completely within minutes in the hot sun. It was work-able prior to that, while in my garage so I made a few cuts, shaped it, and molded it as needed. Overall, I was very happy with this product, especially for $10-20 less than the similar product that I used before, Gator Patch.

First off the 6x6 inch size is indeed accurate. I needed two 6x3 inch pieces for my kayak hull so this size worked for me. Its well packaged and very playable given you take a couple things into consideration. Applying the patch in the shade to give yourself ample time. As soon as it sees dorect sunlight you have less than 5 minutes until its basically a done deal. 1. Wear disposable gloves. This is fiberglass and it WILL get under your skin and become very irritating. 2. Work in a well ventilated area. The chemical smell of the adhesive is very strong and likely at very least, slightly toxic until it dried. 3. Sand the area of your project before applying this patch. Especially shiny plastic surfaces like kayaks. Most cheap kayaks are made with polyethylene plastic which resisted most adhesives. Even the ones that say they work with it. If you sand off the shiny surface of the polyethylene, your adhesion will be much much stronger. Keep in mind that if you have deep gouges from repeatedly dragging your kayak like I do, make sure you sand those down as much as possible. I used 180 grit sand paper because it won't create further thinner of the kayak hull but its enough grit to smooth the surface. You don't want large air pockets under the patch especially at the edges where the patch could peal off. 4. Clean the sanded surface with rubbing alcohol and let it dry before applying the patch. When you apply the patch make sure to press it and rub the entire patch with decent pressure to assure the entire patch, edge to edge, is firmly on. 5. Remove the plastic film on the back of the patch once you've completed application and bring it out in the sun to harden. If you do all the previous steps in the shade you won't have to rush. If you follow these tips, your money will be well spent. These UV reactive patches are not cheap so take the time and do it right the first time. I must have gotten a bad package. The paper was soaked through with the adhesive and very difficult to remove. Leaving the "sticky" side basically dry and it would not stick to the item being repaired. It was also very stiff to work with and hardened while I was trying to get it to stick. Price was right if it worked. Just going to buy a regular resin mix and sheets now, no more quick fix..

We have a fifth wheel RV. We had one screw under the cap area that was overtightened when the fifth wheel was manufactured. I had our service center look at it when we went in for service, and they just put a big washer over it to cover the spidered-cracked area. This did not stop the spidered cracks from spreading out. I didn't want to buy fiberglass cloth and resin because that would just be too messy to apply and finish. I found this item, and what a great product. I applied the patch over the spidered cracked area, hit it with UV light, and it adhered and cured perfectly. This was easy and effective. If I ever need another fiberglass patch, I will be buying this again.

I saw this product was used to repair a broken hard shell suitcase. This seemed an easy solution to fix a break. Since I expected to have a one time fix, I cut paper into the 3x6 inch rectangle. I then cut this into smaller pieces to plan my repair. I made the repair on a sunny day so I could cure the polymer as directed, about 10 minutes. The repairs are very hard and solid. My suitcase is holding up very well since my repair. I’d recommend this to anyone needing to repair a broken hard shell suitcase.

Prepare your repair in advance suggest inside house or garage with low light apply the patch then relocate the item outside in the sun light. Patch works great if you follow the instructions, it will not harden in the package till exposed them in about 10 min of uv/sun light patch will be solid and hard

I used this on an aluminum cover for a post, then painted it white. It covers the rusted spots, lasted through the winter and still looks good. I did not use the entire patch, so kept the left over in the bag, expecting it to be hard, but it was not. I used this left over piece to repair the plastic lid of my green bin garbage container that had a large hole eaten into it by the racoons. Even though the patch I used had been exposed a little bit to the air (but not to the light) it was still malleable and very easy to apply. The patch is grey, the bin is green. It looks ugly, but it works great. I was able to fashion the skirt edge to the bin that the critters ate through. The result is a strong edge that is part of the lid, and I was able to make it so it still locks down. I have used this product on other small projects but the fact that this left over piece lasted through the winter without degrading was impressive and the ease of use, and how good it looked after being painted gives it 5 stars!

I bought this to patch holes in my metal roof . It’s easy to cut, holds in place and hardens fast. It’s so easy to use! Strong odor and leaves a residue on your fingers but if you wear gloves then that’s a non issue. Great product. Highly recommend. Would be good for many different repair jobs.

Fixed up a fibreglass water tank just what we needed

worked fantastic to patch a polyethylene dinghy hull that had worn from dragging on a sandy beach. this was the same material as cheap kayaks. it was absolutely perfect for sticking to that when nothing else worked. highly recommended.

Does not work as advertised at all, waste of money.
