No neutral required, buzzes with cfl or LED bulbs
The good: this switch does not require a neutral, which is great for older homes where the switch boxes don't have neutrals and it isn't easy to pull new wire. Switch pairs quickly and easily with SmartThings, stores last dimmer setting, and works as expected. This is the same switch as the GE, just in a plain looking box without the GE name. The bad: if used with cfl or LED bulbs this switch makes a noticable buzzing noise when at full brightness, and a much louder buzzing noise when dimmed even a little. To eliminate the buzzing it needs bulbs drawing a significant current, as in multiple incandescent bulbs, kept mostly at a high brightness level.

Works without neutral wire.
This product works exactly as intended. I have it connected without a neutral wire (and also without a ground) and it works flawless. The switch does do a slow fade in and fade out, and that I found is adjustable with parameter 10 (Set to 1 for fastest). My Smartthings hub picked it up right away, and was able to control it. It basically works just like any other smart switch that requires a neutral, however my review is based off of incandescent lights, supposedly CF and LED do not play well with switches lacking a neutral, but I did not test that.

Not 1000 Watt
I bought this because I was looking for a 1000 watt switch that didn't require a neutral wire. Although the title and product description says that it's 1000 watt, the package insert says that it's 600 watt. I reached out to the seller to clarify which it is but didn't receive a response.

Worked fine
I purchased this because the z-wave switch I was replacing had no neutral wire. This item installed and worked fine. Not much else to say but I would buy it again if need be.

which makes it a great choice for retrofits into older installations
The item was not as advertised and thus not usable for the specific application -- GE45612 is a dimmer not requiring a N wire, which makes it a great choice for retrofits into older installations. Unfortunately the dimmer delivered was a newer model requiring an N connection.
