Neurosky Mindset Headset Brain-Computer Interface Technologies

I read other reviews when I bought this product and most of those blogs and reviews gave the same rating. First of all, you have to understand that this device still needs more development and since it is a relatively new idea to use brainwaves in games, there is not a lot of games in the market. I knew before hand that there were some issues regarding the difficulty in controlling your concentration and meditation gauge. (It takes practice and you're not the psychic you think you are. You can't bend a spoon yet and other gasses might come out if you concentrate too hard.) At first you may think it randomly creates patterns on its own but when you move the sensor away from your forehead, you will see the readings stop. I am not really a tech expert nor a total gamer but I bought this to give mind wave controlled games a try. I believe this is the future of gaming and the days where virtual reality rpg games where you actually control it through your brain may not be far from us. I want to close the light with my brain waves in the future as well. (Technically you can do that now if you're the engineer techie type, it is possible. I've seen YouTube vids with mind controlled pulley rides.)CONS:- Sensor sometimes stops or freezes- lapse of a second for readings- Power button is hard to press (Well at least on mine)- few games available in the market both on the PC and smartphone games. (Not as many as I've wanted)- Got a little trouble setting up the Bluetooth in my computer but it may just be me and my incompetent computer- Bluetooth signal sometimes get weak and you can't really grab a snack in your kitchen while using your wireless headphones without losing a signal.PROS:- Developer tools. Developer dudes seems to like it a lot.- I bought this because compared to other Neurosky products like MindWave or MindWave Mobile, if the brainwave sensor doesn't work, (I was expecting the worse) at least you can still use it as a Bluetooth headphone.- Has a Bluetooth dongle for your computer.- Rechargeable!! Just plug it on your USB dock. It says in the site that it has 10 hours battery life in a full charge. Never really used it for 10 hours so I don't know if it is true.- Can be used in cellphone mindset games. (Unlike the mindwave)

Full disclosure this is not the exact product I bought. I bought the Mindwave but the experience was so horrible I felt compelled to warn anyone considering dealing with mindwave. When I first got the device it wouldn't work because I had just updated to Yosmite and their drivers weren't up to date. Okay that seemed to be happening to a lot of people around the Yosmite update but it took- I think it was 4 months for them to get the drivers going. When I complained they said returns were acceptable for defect but that the return because I didn't like it period had expired even though they acknowledged I couldn't have tested the product during the months I was waiting for the yosemite update. When I finally could get it working it broke before I got to use it. Sent it back which took about a month round trip I think. I got charged duties by UPS. I didn't feel this was reasonable given that I was returning the product for being defective. Customer service did agree and after a laughable number of emails and days waiting for a response between each one they did reimburse me- apologizing and saying that they believed I was charged in error but they would take that up with UPS directly. Now three months later I have never actually used the machine because it wasn't working when I tried and I am just so frustrated with everything around it I can't bring myself to invest the time to figure out of it is in fact defective again. And this is the kicker a few days ago I received a letter of collections in my name for the duties that I paid to UPS at the door so the collections notice can only be a result of their arguments with UPS. I immediately emailed the customer service person I had been dealing with she apologized expressed shock asked for information I had already provided in the email and promised to resolve the issue quickly but I am still waiting...
