My iron came with a separate piece of black plastic and I have no idea what it's for. Instructions do not mention this. Any idea?

The cover for Water fill won’t snap back on! Help

The cover of the water filler is not meant to be removed. It opens from the top and hinged on the bottom. If it has been removed, then the hinge is probably broken off. I'm not sure how you would fix that.

I used this without water and it stopped working so should I always use water?
