Great idea
I really want to love this rent. It is such a great idea. I just wish the quality was better. The first time we used this tent, it easily ripped while carefully sliding over our truck shell door. I didn't think this was the end of the world, I own Gorilla Tape but then when we were disassembling the tent, one of the ropes snapped in half on one of the tent poles. The zipper on the door is also not very user friendly and I can see bad things coming from it. I have started a return with Amazon. I would have been happy to have it replaced but that wasn't an option. I did order another one though. I really like this tent, I just wish the quality was better. I'd be happy to pay more for a tent that was more durable. I wanted to update my review after returning my first tent and purchasing a new one; The return process was seamless and so far we've had much better luck with the new one. We used it for the first time this Labor day weekend and it was fantastic. The zipper wasn't an issue with this one and no tears, or defective tent poles this time. I would definitely recommend setting it up with another person though. Also, follow the directions and make sure you square up your vehicle with the tent when backing in. Otherwise, it wont fit properly. I would also suggest buying better tent stakes and a bigger bag to store it in. Other than that, a really cool product.

6+ years, still waterproof - difficult to erect without a partner.
We go camping about 4 times per year in varying locations, so this tent has been assembled and disassembled more than two dozen times at this point and has probably spent about 50 days in use. This has been used on the beach, in the woods, at music festivals, and in family back yards. After six years, the fabric is still completely waterproof. It's kept me and my gear completely dry and secure even in sever thunderstorms with driving rain and heavy wind. The black fiberglass poles started to de-laminate after the first 3-4 years - we've spiral-wrapped some fiber-reinforced repair tape around them to keep it going for a couple of more years, which is typical based on other tents we've owned. I wouldn't call it easy to assemble - despite only having three poles, it uses a design where it has no structural integrity until the last pole is inserted. This makes it difficult to erect unless you have a second set of hands. What's worse, the pole pockets are made from a stretchy mesh material which tends to snag the pole ends on the way through unless you have someone to carefully guide the pole through the pocket.

Good tent overall, Great customer service
*7/20/2020- one of the longer poles ended up snapping. I didn’t notice this until taking down the tent. Reached out to Rightline’s customer service and they sent out a replacement covered under warranty. They were super great to work with and very fast getting the replacement pole out. 5 stars for customer service changing review to 4 stars instead of 3. Tent worked great this weekend. even rained a little bit and we stayed dry. 06/29/2020 The main issue with this tent was getting the end to insert into the tab for the pole that goes from front to back on the top. I had the tent stretched out as much as I could and made sure that the pole itself wasnt getting hung up in the fabric and it still tore. we have a campout planned this weekend so instead of trying to deal with returning it, I sewed it... There was also a little snag on the front of the tent from factory that will probably end up turning into a hole.. if you purchase this tent be very careful trying to get that pole in. This isnt my first rodeo with a tent and I couldnt believe how hard it was to get that in. other than that the tent is a great size and the rest of the qualify is there for a $300 tent. Looking forward to using it this weekend!

Tent is very sturdy and fairly simple to set up if you have ...
Tent is very sturdy and fairly simple to set up if you have help. I put it up by myself the first time and it definitely is a bit challenging but doable. The tent held up during very high winds (I used 18" lag screws to secure it instead of the included stakes). There are a couple of design flaws which seem silly for the manufacturer to overlook. The tent does not form a tight seal because of the way the straps attach to the car. However, I attached the "B" straps to the inside cargo area instead of the outside wheel well (different from manufacturer recommendation) and it seemed to fix the problem. The car opening is a tight fit and I have to be very precise in order to fit it onto my Honda Element. The thing that really just drives me nuts about this tent, however, is the main door that lacks a zipper across the bottom border. In order to step through easily, you have unzip the whole door, which then drags on the floor of the tent or on the ground.. If partially unzipped you have to step awkwardly over the threshhold which would be difficult for my older dog should I take him camping with me; and I don't like the thought of leaving the whole door open in bug-infested campsites. It wasn't a big deal to get in and out of the tent but it did make moving large items in and out a bit awkward. Served its purpose, but this could so easily have been a 4 or 5 star tent with a little more thoughtfulness in the design.

Works well for a Jeep Wrangler with a Gobi rack.
Have only set up once, but did so in approximately 25 minutes. I don't have much tent experience, so the initial setup was slow. I suspect the next time will go at least 1/3 quicker. It fit my 2012 Jeep Wrangler 4 Door with Gobi Rack perfectly. A really nice little camping addition for the rig. It seems well constructed and seals well to the vehicle. There is even enough room to have the tailgate open with a bike on the rack, (have to be careful not to rip the tent when pulling around the bike). I'll be using it next week and will update this review. UPDATED: Quick update...I've been very happy with this product. I've set it up and used it on a number of occasions. I also had occasion to make a warranty claim (with less than a month to go) and received outstanding customer support. Tent is ideal for my use and love that it can be detached from the vehicle and left in place. I had to sections of a support pole snap. In all fairness it was in a thunderstorm and the winds were quite extreme. As mentioned above...Rightline customer service (Brian) was fantastic. The tent goes up fairly easy, (easier with 2 on a windy day). Can easily be detached and re-attached. Keeps the interior of the vehicle and tent quite dry (when used with optional rain fly). All zippers, pulls, and screens have held up sell over a number of uses.

Poor quality and VERY DIFFICULT to put up by one person alone
This tent is a great idea that is very poorly executed using cheap materials. If you are planning to buy and use this tent as a single person, STOP, and go elsewhere. After watching Rightline's instructional videos on YouTube on how to put this tent up, I found that they left out the parts showing the "solo" Rightline Employee STRUGGLING to get the poles in the pockets -- especially the top pole. After 2 full hours of sweating and some very foul language, I finally managed to get the tent up. (Incidentally, after my 2 hour struggle, I took the tent down, took the center pole back out, and had a friend try to put the pole back in by himself. A lot of bad language and, "Why did you buy this thing, you will never get it put up by yourself.") To be honest, due to putting so much tension on the center pole, I was afraid it was going to snap . . . and don't think the two side poles are any easier to deal with. In addition, as noted in other reviews, the "mesh sleeves" for the poles are horrible, I knew this at the time of purchase, however, I can guarantee they will not last over 4 - 5 setups, and they will be completely trashed. The floor is as thin as the walls and will not last unless you put some kind of carpet or rug down over it. The one and only door opens on the top and sides only, the bottom is fully attached, so every time you step in, you catch the bottom and/or step on it, which will also be trashed over a few uses. For the price of this tent, none of these items should be an issue. I am very disappointed and disgusted, and I put it right back in the box for return.

Great tent!
This tent is awesome! Very well designed and well-made. Looks beautiful! We had some difficulty inserting the top horizontal rod in - ended up leaving it out of one of the sleeves, otherwise we couldn’t get the ends into their places. Other than that, the assembly was straight forward. Perhaps, we did it in the wrong order, hope it will be amazingly easy the next time. Light rain was not a problem, haven’t tested it in a heavy rain. For the reference, my car is Kia Sorento - fits perfectly. In conclusion, I love this tent!

Just the ticket!
Took the car and tent camping this weekend, and I'm very happy with the tent's functionality. It's very roomy, has a bathtub style sturdy floor, and is wind resistant. There are a lot of ways to attach it to the car, so I was able to find a way that works well with the element. I used two strong magnets to close some gaps between the tent and car- could use more. It took two people to assemble, it would be challenging for one person, hopefully possible though. Other reviews mentioned the tent sleeves catching on the poles and the zipper for the door catching the tent flaps- It happens, but no more than any other tent design. Definitely use a ground cloth- you will need to smash the tent to get out the air and fit it back into the bag- which is easier if the tent floor isn't muddy. Tent stakes are typical and fine to use. Poles are fiberglass, and will hold up for a while, not forever. It came with more straps than I needed. Windows are big and allow plenty of airflow, but also provide sufficient privacy.

SUV tent
Absolutely brilliant! Easy to put up. Done in less than an hour! Was expecting it to take so much longer for a first time. Would easily do it in no time now. Can’t recommend highly enough! Wrapped around my f pace easily! Honestly a great buy
