This thing is awesome!

This is exactly what I was hoping for, and more! It's basically a whole-house battery backup. It can even run the central AC system! I have the Smart Inlet Box, which means I have to switch over manually when the power goes out. The Power Dock switches automatically, which would be even better, but it costs more. Either way, Anker makes quality stuff. Definitely worth the purchase.
