Fit wide mouth canning jars perfectly.
I saw a YouTube video with these growing kitchen herbs in the window. Gave it a go and it works perfectly. Note: this is hydroponic and soil-less growing method. Uses perlite or similar as growing medium.

Great net pots!
Received today. Seem very sturdy. Sturdier than I thought they would be from reading prior reviews. Only reason for a 4-star rating: All of the pots had a 2" x 2" sticker on the outside of them (containing a UPC code). Each sticker was incredibly difficult to remove. Peel too fast and it just shreds, making the removal job take longer.Update: 4/14/12: Ordered another set of net pots from HydroToYou. These are great and only 3 out of the 36 that I ordered have the UPC stickers on the side of them, and all 3 of them were very easy to remove. The net pots from the original review that had the difficult-to-remove stickers were purchased from Hydroponics Market. In the future, I'll order net pots from HydroToYou because of this. Other reviewers posted negative comments about these net pots not fitting in a 3 inch hole. These net pots will not fit in a 3 inch hole because the width of the top of the net pot, including the lip, is 3 inches. So, if you cut your hole to match the inner lip (easy to do using a template made from cardboard), they fit perfectly and are strong and durable. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect size pots for my starter plants
I really only needed one pot while dividing and repotting my African Violet, but these are nice pots, and I am glad I have more for future starts. They are not thin & flimsy and have worked great so far.

Not the same as picture -- but, how to keep hydroton from "falling through"
The net cups I received, like other reviewers -- are in fact 3" net cups. However, they do not look anything like the ones in the product image. They are MUCH "nettier" with much larger openings.A few reviewers have said that hydroton falls through these cups. This is, somewhat, true. The spaces in the bottom and sides are technically bigger than many (about half in my bag) hydroton pieces. So if you just try to dump hydroton into the cups, it will fall out all over the floor. However, that's not the end of the world. Here's what you have to do to use hydroton with these...Set the cup down on a flat surface (counter top, whatever). Put your hydroton in.....the friction alone will hold it in. Will you lose one or two stones perhaps? Yes, especially when you pick it up. But no matter, just pick them back up and put them on top or throw them back in your bag.I had no problem putting several seedlings in these using that method. It also happens to be a problem with net cups I have that have smaller openings as well. It's just a small annoyance.Otherwise, they're net cups. They're cheap, reasonably well made and yes...you need a 2 7/8" hole saw for these if you're putting them in containers or something. DO NOT try to use a 3" hole saw or you'll be mad as your net cups fall in. Also, grab the 2 7/8" saw online because it's not a standard item carried by most local stores. Good luck!

Exactly what I was looking for
These net cups work great for my indoor vegetable garden. I was using 6" net cups but over time I realized they were way to big and my local hydro shop was just over Selling me with the 6" baskets so I had to buy 3 times the amount of clay balls. The Hydrofoam 3" net cups are the perfect size for my aquaponics garden of tomatos, peppers and herbs. The roots had no problems working their way through. They came very quickly and in perfect condition.

Great for earth buckets
I grow tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini , basil etc on my porch in earth buckets. Everything is thriving. I fill these with polyfill to keep the dirt out of the water reservoir and act as a wick to bring the water to the plants. (You can find earth buckets on YouTube but they use plastic drinking cups with slits cut into them. I believe the net pots work better.). I am disabled and had to give up gardening until I found out about earth buckets. These work so well that I placed a second order for them. I now have 15 earth buckets on my porch and am about ready to start a second crop. Best garden ever, everything is thriving and no weeds. Everyone should try this.

the dimensions advertised are all wrong
Being a newbie hydroponist, at the time of purchasing this item, I had no idea of how off these measurements for net cup/pots by multiple sellers on Amazon. Case in point, this pot is advertised as a 3 in net pot, but the dimensions are 4x6x4..I have found I have wasted much energy and time returning pots and researching which ones will actually fit. So this is what I have discovered, most of the measurements listed for these pots are INACCURATE. If you purchase a 3 in net pot, for example, you expect it to fit your 3 in hole. Not so, you find that many sellers list all kinds of different measurements, and never specify whether the D is OD (outside diameter), ID (inside diameter). If you don't believe me, check out other sellers selling these pots, then you decide. If you have a diameter of 4 in, and the width is 6 in, how is this a 3 in pot? BEWARE, when ordering these net pots make sure that the seller is giving you the correct and actual dimensions of the pot. No issues with the product itself, but all the time wasted trying to find the right sized pot because if inaccurate measurements is a real negative, so that's why the 3 stars!

Great price and solid
Pretty standard, not had any issues with net cups before. Some have larger holes some smaller, these are a good size for most media I would say. Personally I just use foam collars now but the Rockwool works great in these two. If you wanted larger gaps could always snip every second one or something if you have huge root systems.
