Victorinox Swiss Army – HistoryMaster Cutler Karl Elsener opened a cutlery shop in Ibach, Switzerland in 1884. Seven years later, in 1891, Karl supplied the Swiss Army with its standard issue Soldier’s Knife. After the death of his mother in 1909, Karl Elsener introduced the brand name Victoria and the iconic Cross and Shield emblem is registered as a trademark. Simply elegant.
This watch was a gift for my husband, who pretty much in my opinion is either a watch-breaker or misplacer. He says the watch is comfortable, looks simply elegant and is not overkill as in "LOOK AT ME!!!" I think the watch looks great and takes a beating from him playing with the kids, roaming around work, and taking care of business in general. It's nice enough to wear with a suit as well as casual and sports wear. Overall, I think it's a good buy. So far, it's been problem free and does its expected job. My husband agrees with other reviewers that say the watch does not glow in the dark but he says the orange hands do pop out in lower light but not in complete darkness.

a Lemon and Poor Customer Service
2nd UPDATE - April, 2013: I have since sent this watch back to them two more times to repair the original problem that has never been fixed. Each time, it takes months and I never hear a word from them until I hound them. I just contacted them to ask them to please help me because after three times in their hands for months at a time, the watch is still defective. They have refused since day one to refund my money, and now they are saying they can't keep spending money on shipping and repair. What??? What about the money I spent on a defective product??? They also say it has been too long since my purchase date for them to help me. What??? This is an ongoing problem that started within five months of purchase. They are the worst company I have ever encountered. I consider my money stolen since they sold me a defective product, can't fix it, and refuse to replace or reimburse. The worst!!!!UPDATE: This watch is defective, and it took three months for the seller to get it "repaired" and sent back to me...and it was not fixed. They stated a 2-year window for returning if defective, so we'll see if they honor that and give me my money back. Also, during the 3 months they had the watch for repair, they were horrible with keeping me updated. I had to contact them constantly to find out why it wasn't being sent as promised, and their date just kept getting pushed back further and further, then again no word. Terrible company!Also, the band has a tear in it. My husband takes better care of his things than 90% of the population, way more than I do, and he has several watches so doesn't wear this one all the time--the tear is NOT due to wear-and-tear...it's poorly made.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I don't wear a watch and know nothing about them, but I was able to choose this one as a gift for my husband with confidence because 1) he likes the Victorinox brand, and 2) even I can see it is a handsome watch. It's on the subtle side with enough character that it's not boring. The face is large (not bulky), which makes the band seem a bit narrow even though it is a standard size band. Packaging is really nice, so made for a nice "presentation" as a gift.

Amazing watch, very satisfied and the right size. A little small for a 6’3 guy but looks great and is very stylish.

Rubben brand is slimmer that stated in specs.
The machine looks neat and elegant. The rubber brand is very slim (around 18mm), eventhough the specs states that is 40mm.

Fair "all occasion" watch
Well, I really liked it. I'm definitely not an expert so my review will be based on my experience. As an original Victorinox, you will find a real watch, comfortable, perfectly sized, no noise, 100 meters water resistance and besides, an "all occasion" watch. This kind of versatility is rare today, I believe. So, buying this watch you can keep it on work, gym, party, anywhere else. Terrible news is it is discontinued as far I as understand in the Vic' website. It may be the last chance to have one so.

Swiss Army makes a tough watch........
I like the Swiss Army watches. The only reason I bought a new one was that the old one was so beat up looking that I felt it was time to replace. It was working fine after 10 years of abuse. I like the look of the new Base Camp and so far it is working great.
