City Walks: Sydney 50 Adventures on Foot Cards – September 1, 2008

I was new to the City Walks series, so I had no idea how wonderful this set would be. The walks are well-chosen and thorough, the descriptions a great beginning for the tourist, and the maps superb. While discussing a walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach with the concierge at a major hotel, I pulled out the corresponding map from the set, and she was astonished at the clarity, accuracy and detail of the map that included her neighborhood. It may be overkill if you only have 24 hours in the Sydney area, but if you have a weekend, it's perfect. To those who enjoy walking around a new city, instead of just sitting on the tour bus, I cannot recommend this set more highly -- though you will want to use it with a more traditional guidebook for more detailed information about the history and sights of the area.

Sydney is an amazing city. Lots of ground to cover if you look at the map and read the activities. We bought this for our honeymoon and spent almost 10 days there and couldn't reach every neighborhood. It was printed in 2008 I believe and I wonder if Sydney's interesting shops change frequently because in one neighborhood half of the places we went to were either not there anymore or closed during midday.In any case, these City Walk cards should only enhance an already awesome trip you'll be having in Sydney. I would recommend these compact (and discreet) cards over those heavy Lonely Planet books.
