MicroCON--This Wii-Compatible Controller SUCKS
The Amazon.com image of the cool-looking, clear-shelled Madcatz Microcon that appears to have rubber grips and rubberized joystick tips is NOT the controller you get--see Colors May Vary--more like Controller May Vary. The controller I received appears to be pressed out of Happy Meal toy-grade white plastic, with hard plastic grips and super-cheap smooth plastic joysticks. There is no rubberized anything on this. This looks cheaper than Lego-brick plastic. It looks like it came out of a 50-cent machine. The construction of the original corded Nintendo Gamecube controller that I have looks massive and tank-like in comparison to the tiny, cheap looking parts on this joke of a controller. This one says "Wii-compatible" on the packaging, so my guess is all the new models of the Microcon are these ultra-cheap bastardizations of the original Microcon that is pictured here. Even Gamestop's rip-off of this controller (that they sell for the same price) looks awesome in comparison to this piece of junk--at least it has the rubberized grips and joysticks. Gamestop's controllers are probably refurbished (or more likely, just rebadged) old-model Microcons.***Another concern is the RF-selector switch. As you can see in the Amazon.com image--the old model Microcons had a switch in the middle that allowed for 4 different frequencies so that when more than one controller was used they wouldn't interfere with each other. This cheapo-model controller DOES NOT have that switch and if you use more than one of these at the same time, they will probably interfere as they'll be on the same frequency. Imagine playing Smash Bros. like that!I've only used the controller for less than an hour of Super Smash Bros. Melee gameplay on my Wii and already I hate it. The left joystick is imprecise and glitchy--it does not have a smooth sweep like a joystick should--that is, when my thumb is able to get a good enough grip on the tiny, slippery surface of the thing. The rest of the buttons are relatively unresponsive--not to mention tiny. Did I say tiny? Like half the size of the original Nintendo Gamecube controller's buttons. And those were small to begin with. But I could deal with the diminutive size of the thing, if only it had some rubber gripping surfaces and felt like it wasn't going to snap in two in my hands. And it runs on AAA batteries, NOT AAs. AAAs! There's room for AAs in the bottom, but they went with AAAs. Who does that? And the battery door is a whole other failure of design. It's a swing-door that is attached to the controller and is kept closed by about a millimeter of the aforementioned plastic that snaps into the body of the controller. I can see that breaking off in about two battery changes. This "Wii-compatible" Microcon SUCKS.BRING BACK THE WAVEBIRD!!!

Does the job.
I bought this as a Gamecube and Virtual Console controller for my Wii, with which it works very well. The controller functions right out of the box, is nicely responsive, and just works. Most of the buttons are solid enough, the thumb stick works very well, and the price was certainly right. The grips are hard plastic and the controller itself is lightweight. After using it for a few weeks (and through two games, the excellent 'Beyond Good and Evil' and 'Metroid Prime'), I have two criticisms, both of which have been mentioned in Amazon reviews.First, it is very small for an adult. While I don't worry too much about it being hard to reach the 'start' button (I'd rather not accidentally hit it, so I consider this a 'feature'), the A/B/X/Y buttons are very close together for my big thumb, and I'm always accidentally hitting the X button instead of the Y. The Left and Right shoulder buttons feel cheap, but they work well.Second, after the beating I've given it with 'Metroid Prime', The analog sticks are (reasonably enough) starting to drift a bit.. (ED. After a bit of playing, I found if you unplug the wireless plug from the Wii, and then plug it back in, the controller recalibrates. Putting the Wii in standby mode doesn't do it, since the gamecube ports are still powered. Also, you must make sure the controller is switched on before you start the gamecube game, or the sticks will be off..)All and all, it seems to be a decent product and unless the stick problem gets worse (ED. It's fine..) I'd definitely buy it for a younger child to beat up. Or if an extra $10 makes a big difference.Edit, 4 months later: As time goes on, the joystick portion becomes less and less accurate and drifts badly.I'd drop my rating down to a 2 if I could. Good price, but not very rugged at all.

Not as well made as previous models.
MadCatz used to make the best off-brand controllers. Those days are no longer with us. This controller was cheaply made. The controls were loose and the plastic felt cheap. I got a white model, unlike the picture (which is fine) but the pictured quality looks much better than the quality I recieved. Despite this cheap feel, the controller works fine. I haven't tested it's long term endurance yet, but for now it is working like a charm (other than the fact that it feels like i'm holding a delicate house of potatoe chips in my sweaty palms). I would buy again if I needed wireless, simply due to the good price, but I would definitely opt for a wired controller over this cheap knockoff of a knockoff controller.

Color choice was off
Just got it in the mail today. Used to own one, and this was the best wireless GameCube controller. Only problem I seem to have with this item, is I thought I was getting the black one. Instead, I received the indigo, which in my opinion looks nice as well. But would have rather had the black, just to let everyone know before buying. You may receive a different color than what was advertised. Otherwise, very good controller.

Decent product
This was the cheapest wireless gamecube controller I could find. That being said, it matches my quality expectations. It's really light, kinda cramped, and doesn't include batteries. Also, the pictured wireless adapter is not what I received. I got boxes with 2" cables attached to the connector, which works, but isn't nearly as organized. I got these to use for Wii VC games and they work fine for that purpose.

Love lack of wires, but too small
Since the GameCube is known for have wires which are way too short (like all rooms are dorm rooms), having a wireless controller is a huge benefit. The only complaint that I have is that the controller is too small. If you have kids under 14, then this is a good controller for them. Anyone else will have trouble holding the controller and definitely get frustrated trying to squeeze their thumbs between the joysticks to get to the START button.

Good but small!
I bought this for playing Gamecube games on my Wii. In general I'm really pleased with it:Pros:- Well made, strong build quality- Grips are good, and the buttons feel positive (if you hit them, they respond immediately)- Wireless works perfectly - you just have to plug the receiver into the console, switch the controller on, and when the red light stops blinking, it is connected). I've been using it over a range of about 5 meters, and the wireless doesn't lose signal or cut out.Cons- The biggest problem is that the console is really small! Great for people with small hands, but a touch on the small size for everyone else.- I found that the grips and the buttons are a tad too close together - I can still use it, and it doesn't harm gameplay too much, but its a bit uncomfortable after a while.- No batteries (I bought some AAA rechargables, which cost me £5, so you have to factor in that cost, plus the cost of a memory card (about £10 for 64mb), as you can't use the Wii's internal memory or the SD card to save progress on Gamecube games). In summary - good, perfect for Gamecube games if you don't want to get tangled up with wires or if you want to play games more than 3 meters away from your TV. Also, bear in mind that you can't use the Wii's Classic Controller for Gamecube games, and that Nintendo's own "Wavebird" wireless controller costs about £30 and is now very hard to find.

Wireless statt Kabelsalat

Echt Klasse !
