Swamiji writes an excellent review of what Kashmir Shaivism is about, historically as well as today. What was particularly of interest to me was his explanation of where Kashmir Shaivism stands as in relation to Vedantism and its great teachers. A book full of illuminating wisdom which can be an enrichment for the rest of the reader's life.

Along with Tantra Illuminated by Chris Wallis, this is one of the most comprehensive books on Kashmir Shaivism. Great for beginners as well as long time practitioners.A lost tradition that really needs a comeback in today's society. The most powerful knowledge that has ever existed.

A great resource in the investigation of Consciousness.

Consciousness is Everything, by the same author, is available in Kindle in a much easier-to-read format. I bought them both, thinking they were different books. However, they are the same book except this one is in a very hard-to-read format. I think Kindle owes me a free book, but I did not realize I had the lame reproduction until my return deadline expired.

Great intro to Shaivism!

Written from the perspective of a spiritual master of Kashmir Shaivism, this book is alive with practical and inspiring insights into an ancient but very timely philosophy. For anyone interested in learning more about Kashmir Shaivism and its approach to consciousness, I believe this to be the best, most lucid and complete introduction to a fascinating subject.

This review is for the kindle version. I was really looking forward to reading this book. Unfortunately the kindle version is a poorly-scanned pdf, barely legible. Luckily for me, I got it free through kindle unlimited. I returned it right away. Had I pais for it, I would have demanded a refund. This will make me think rwice before buying Swami Shanarananda's other book available on kindle.
