Improved Version of an Amazing RPG
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - Decisive Edition is an excellent RPG that fans old and new will love. For starters, this game is packaged with a beautifully designed steel case, a CD with music on it, a 50 mira coin, and an instruction manual with little comics in the back! Talk about getting your money's worth! Whats new in this version?- added lines of dialogue, updated graphics, turbo mode, and all DLC is unlocked! In the game you play as a teen boy named Rean, who joins the newly developed Class VII at Thors Military Academy. This class consists of some of the best characters I've seen in RPG's, with each of them having unique personalities that keeps you interested through the whole game. Through out the game you attend school, bond with friends, and go on field trips that generally involve you fighting evil forces and investigating drama, which is excellently written. While at school, you can bond with your classmates. Through these bonding events, you will witness heartfelt moments and even some romance that will keep you wanting more. Not once was I ever bored playing the game. Story 10/10The combat system is superb! the game is turned based and each fighter is unique. For example, one staff user is primarily a healer, while the other is an attacker. Knowing this, you can change up your teams to fight how ever you wish. Skills are determined by the orbaments you have equipped, and crafts are unique to each character. Enemies have weaknesses that you can reveal via attacking them, and squad members can be linked to attack together. Overall combat is a lot of fun. Combat 10/10You have to understand that this is an updated version of a Vita/PS3 game, so it is not the most beautiful thing ever, but it still manages to look great. The colors are spot on, the characters look clean, the art is beautiful, battle effects are cool, and the environments are simply OK. Also, the game runs at 60 fps. Voice acting is really good and the additional lines added to this game are appreciated. Music fits perfectly and is actually enjoyable, but the battle music does get a little stale while grinding out levels, but that is expected. Graphics & Sound- 9/10Overall I highly recommend this game!

This is an underrated gem of a game
This is, truly, my favorite JRPG series of all time, and I have to warn you the cover art is misleading. If you think "oh I know what this game is going to be like" by looking at the art, you're probably going to be surprised. But actually describing the game is also pretty difficult. It's complex, it's nuanced, it's part of a series of games that spans over nine entries so far, but stands well alone as the first in the "Cold Steel" segment of that franchise, a good, easy place to jump into the world of Zemuria and get immersed in its lore, culture, politics, heroes, troubles and triumphs. You don't need to play the other Legend of Heroes games to play this one and enjoy it.In this game you will find everything. Great humor, an amazing sound track, top notch characters, world building, story telling and enjoyable turn based combat. If you're undecided or curious I cannot stress enough how worthwhile this game is not just to try, but to stick to the end. The twists and turns of the game may seem almost low-key or slow paced at times, but that's because the game never cuts corners, never hurries development of either plot or characters. And when the action does pick up, you'll find you've grown attached to Class VII along the way without even realizing how or when it happened that you got so invested. If you play this game to the end I promise you, you will be so invested you won't want to wait even a minute to pick up the sequel. If you've played other Legend of Heroes games you probably know what you're in for, if this is your first Legend of Heroes game, throw your preconceptions out the window and sit back, let yourself enjoy the adventures of Class VII, take in the world, and go at your own pace. The difficulty levels offer challenges for any level of gameplay, but the real meat of these games is the story and the characters. There is one con to this game I have to mention, especially for anyone tired of certain tropes. Early on Rean and Alisa undergo a dumb harem anime trope that they abandon by the second game and even reference as dumb in the third game. If you find it annoying like I did I promise you they let it die and the rest of the game shouldn't be judged on that one blemish.

Long but very involved JRPG
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel starts off the Cold Steel chapters of this story. The 4 games in the Cold Steel series are just a part of an overarching narrative. I spent over a 100 hours in this game and in each of the other Cold Steel games, so if you are getting this and want to do the whole story it is a significant time investment. The story is great, and the game play is very good as well. Keep in mind if you want the full story you will need to play the other games as well.

A Very Fun RPG with Anime Cheese
I was never big into anime, and Trails of Cold Steel certainly feels like I am playing one. This game is pretty thick with anime tropes. However, it’s a deep RPG experience that is a lot of fun.The theme song is catchy and gets stuck in my head. There’s a lot to explore and plenty of things to do. The game also has you switching characters around often, so tough luck if you’re into having the perfect party. There’s funny moments, touching moments, and plenty of anime cheese to go around. This game also records your progress as journal entries, so it’s easier to get into again if you put the game down for a while. The battle mechanics are very interesting and I appreciate that. I also love that there’s a turbo mode. That comes in handy from time to time. There’s a lot of linier stuff. I never felt the need to grind, but I did fight most enemies I came across from point A to point B.All in all, this is a great RPG and I am now a fannof the series.

This was an unexpected suprise.
What can I say about this game? I love it!! From the fully fleshed out characters and backgrounds to the amazing lore behind the story. Each character is unique and bring something to the game. Even the side characters which are not usually interesting ARE actually interesting in this game. The story is amazing and I have been switching back and forth from the English voice acting to the Japanese voice work and they are spot on. You may want to play this game more than once to experience the voice acting both ways. I play a game called Final Fanasy 14 and on there someone referred this game to me. I'm super heavy into RPG's and I kinda kick myself for not finding out about this game sooner. This is indeed a diamond in the rough and I couldn't be happier to find this gem and play it now. The game is so good I already ordered the 2nd game in this series just from playing the first couple of hours of this game. That should tell you just how good this game is. I'm totally into this series now. What a good find this was. If your an Rpg player like me this is a must play. yes the graphics are a lil dated but so what. If you want a good story, good combat, and generally a good experience this is a game for you.
