I ordered these to use as deflators for my Jeep, to be used for offroad needs for lower tire pressure. I find the deflators to be nice quality, very fast, and about as accurate as a mechanical spring closure allows. You do have to manually set the final deflation pressure you want by manually adjusting the unit (and then you can lock it in with the included jamb nut). Once you lock them in, they are set but can easily be readjusted to whatever pressure you want. There are several good videos showing how to set these. It is as easy as it looks, maybe even more so. The included pressure gauge is accurate and well-protected by the rubber bumper, so hopefully will have a long life. The other accessories including extra valve stems and two different sets of caps, one set of 4 metal and another 4 plastic, are a nice addition. The case is not great as many note in reviews, but it will work for a while. I think these are a bargain all in all!

Boulder Pro Tire Deflator Kit - Comes in a convenient plastic box with a snap lid, extra valve stems and caps included - just as pictured. Instructions are good, and the deflators are simple to set up. The quality appears as good and some name brands with much higher prices. When adjusting for the desired pressure the first time, I got more accurate, repeatable results by closing the cap (turning clockwise) about 1/8 - 1/4 turn when I first heard air bleeding out. The air bleed out will become slower as the pressure approaches your desired set point. I had to cup my hand around the deflator to hear when the air had stopped bleeding out. The gauge is pretty good, but sometimes gave inconsistent readings - usually within +/- 1 lb of the reading I got on the better quality gauge I keep in my tool kit. But, overall, I'm happy with the quality, the results, the packaging, and the value for dollar.

Update: Clearly I should have reached out to the seller first as once I did they informed me they had seen my review and wanted to address the issue but had no way to contact me. Once we were in touch though they were extremely friendly and adamant about making my experience a good one, They sent replacments within the week (sorry I’m just getting around to updating my review). As I said originally I’d give these deflators 4-stars in general, and now if I had to rate the sellers independently I’d give them 5 stars, excellent customer service. It’s nice to get a good product, it’s even nicer when the seller stands behind their product so you can buy with confidence.Had higher hopes for these after reading reviews. Bought them back in June in anticipation of a trip this month, calibrated them per the instructions and was excited to finally get to use them last week. The initial air-down went ok, though despite being calibrated to about 16psi they only took the tires down to about 20~. I suspect this may have been due to the difference between the tire being cold (in my garage) when calibrated vs hot after making a 4 hour trip before I actually had to use them. I chalked this up to my own mistake of not taking that into account and a lesson learned.The reason I'm rating two stars is because after that first use, the second time trying to air down one of them flat out stopped working at all, would barely let any air out of a full tire, and then another was noticeably slower than the other two, as in took about twice as long to the point where when the other two finished I swapped them for the slow one and the one that was not working at all to finish airing down. They're not super fast to begin with, but they're good enough if all 4 actually work. When only two work as designed the time to air down is obviously doubled. So I'm pretty bummed since I bought these so far in advance of my trip that my return window is closed and I'm stuck with them now. So be warned, I saw a couple other people mention they got one or two bad ones as well, and that was my experience unfortunately. Expected more for the money. Would have prob given 4 stars if they all worked more than one time.

Works great at a fraction of the cost of other brands and other methods...quicker than other methods too, without having to babysit each tire and I have six tires, so that's important to me. Appearance is good durabability, installation is simple, versatility for other application and giving fairly accurate tire pressure.

I just got them, haven't used them, and have never used a product like this before, as I have just gotten my truck fitted with new wheels for trying some off roading, mostly sand. The instructions are very clear, and I appreciate the spelling of tire with a y because the y doesn't get used often enough today. It seems like a solid kit for the low cost and I'm going to try them out very soon. I also appreciate the extra note about how to close the case. I have lots of cases and they absolutely need finesse to close the clips so they seat correctly. They provided a helpful note and I immediately knew what they were getting at. I've lost equipment due to improper seating of the clips on pelicans and other cases. So that tells me there is a level of attention to detail. SOLID - they got the PSI exactly where it needed to be quickly on my Tacoma for getting onto the beach. Just have to use some common sense and follow the directions, they work great.

The biggest pain is calibration. But once these things are set they are super consistent. just take off the dust covers and srew them on. Takes about 3 min for mine to come down to 25 psi (from 42). I also like the nice analog gauge. Recommend

Summary: Slow. Not as easy to adjust as specified.So I'm a pretty scientific guy. retired nuke plant operator, currently a systems technologist. I bought these reluctantly.Advertised to lower 33's from 34 psi to 15 psi is 5 min. My controlled test (while adjusting) shows 32 psi to 20 psi in 8 minutes. Slow, unless you're otherwise involved dicking around with the Jeep at the time. Who isn't?I followed their instructions. I'm good at that, Nuke plants involve a lot of instructions. Set tire at 20 psi using their gauge and mine, which agreed. I put on all 4 bleeders and adjusted till air came out, then back in until it JUST didn't. Tire to 28 psi. Bleeders (all 4) did not actuate.I pulled on the stem, this didn't help. They let out air but did not continue to. I put the tire up to 32 psi. Bleeder 1 installed, 28 psi at 2 min, 26 psi at 6 min. 25 psi stable at 10 minutes. Well that ain't what I wanted. I wanted 20 psi. Tire bled back to 20 psi, I revisited the adjustment procedure. This time I adjusted the unit until there was still just a wee bit of air coming out. I couldn't hear it, I used windex to see bubbles on the needle hole on the outside of the casing.Locked it down there and retested. In 8 minutes it was exactly at 20 psi with no bubbles. Re-did this procedure and tested all the rest of them. It's a 2 beer procedure. All went right down to 20 if you waited 8 minutes, no more air coming out. OK Cool. It takes me about 10 minutes for other trail preps and a *soda* when I go off road, so I guess these will work.If you're on sand going to like 12 psi, I have no idea how long it would take, but I'm guessing it would be about 15 - 20 minutes. Looking at the design, at first the air comes out around the pin, pretty slow. After that the pin is seated but still moving down as the spring relaxes, and there are two very small bleed holes on the casing to let air out. These let air out VERY slowly, first two of them, then just the one as the valve body moves into the seat. So the lower you go, the less the differential pressure, and the lower the flow rate. The equation is exponential.Manufacturer: Design critique:The 4 bleed holes under the valve seat are too small, so the initial rate is say about 20% of someone just letting air out with a pen. That's pretty slow. Make them bigger; this will increase your initial bleed rate and lower the response time. Consider a longer valve body, a stronger longer spring, and more side-of-casing and larger bleed holes. Also you could make the side casing holes increasing larger as you get lower in differential pressure towards (as the valve stem moves downward). This would flatten the otherwise exponentially slower rate curve and lower the time to finish.Your design consideration of 80 psi top of range may make this difficult. You'd be better off with one product for 40 psi tires and another for the bikes.I don't want or need any compensation for the advice.

I tend to buy premium products when it comes to "survival" functions so I was very cautious about buying these instead of the industry standard (Staun) $$ price. Staun, I think, created the design and their price has come down. I have owned these for only several months so i cant speak to the long term durability but have used them 4 times. The tire deflators get the 5 stars, the gauge is cheap, bulky, but consistent with my good accutire digital gauge, the box is kind of cheezy and bulky, so I only keep the deflators in their nice little compact pouch. There are lots of good tips given by the seller and other reviewers, and these air down consistently to within 1-2 psi.Some complain these are slow, if you are impatient, and the first isn't done by the time you put them all on your vehicle, you can speed it up by briefly pulling on the end pin (allowing fast air release), then if they are still bleeding slowly you can repeat till they stop. Also, I really looked at the "rapid tire deflator" design that unscrews the core to deflate very fast, but am a bit cautious about removing and rescrewing the cores when deep in the bush....That design may be faster, but you add complexity (think plumbing)....There are also some aluminum designed ones that allow slow driving with them mounted, and seem like a good idea, but there could be some corrosion variability? over time issues. The idea of driving with anything hanging off valve stems also can be forgotten and become an issue....torn stems from offroad driving are a known issue without the added extension..Great product.

First time using deflators. Easy to follow instructions to set up. I dropped the pressure on one tire to 20 psi. Adjusted and set all deflators on this tire, and then screwed them on the other three tires. All four deflators are within 1 psi of each other. Perfect!Total time for adjusting and setting up was about 10 minutes. Now I’m good to go. Likely get another set so I can set them at a lower pressure.At the moment, Boulder Tools website is offline.
