A decent card
If this card been open & insert, it would have gotten a 5-star but the slim case adapter, once installed, didnt seem centered in my x16 slot. This prevented the USB 3 cable or SATA cable from being able to be inserted! The solution: shim it with a piece of soft plastic, about 1mm. VERY easy to do since 2 screws hold the adapter plate to the card. Maybe it was my mobo or maybe the card. I cant say but now I have SUPER fast USB but havent tried the SATA yet.

For Apple Macs: System Profiler inaccurately reports 5Gbs; real speed is 10Gbs
This card has worked flawlessly in my 2010 Mac Pro. Recently, when I looked in System Profiler, it showed 5Gbs, rather than 10Gbs, even though it's supposed to provide 10Gbs! I wrote to the manufacturer, and they replied within 2 hours Images wouldn't cut and paste: U31-AC-2 is built with an ASM2142 controller. (the ASMeida controllers are the only single chip solution for USB3.1 Gen 2 PCIe add-in cards in the market now.) It's a known issue with ASMedia ASM2142/ASM1142 controllers on Mac Pro systems because MacOS USB drivers don't report the speed correctly. It reports as USB 3.0 5Gbps, but it actually runs in USB 3.1 Gen 2 speed. The MacOS may display ASMedia controller as 5 Gbps, but it actually runs at 10 Gbps. You can use the Disk Speed Test to check the speed? The Disk Speed Test shows Write speed 435.2 MB/s (~4.35 Gbps) and Read speed 753 MB/s (~7.53 Gbps) at our end. (image below) The following pictures are from customers using Disk Speed Test, FYI. The SATA power connector is optional. The Mac Pro 5,1 should be able to provide enough power to drive PU31-AC-2 and connected devices through PCIe bus. As for USB cable, it really depends on cable quality and length to support higher speed data rates.
