Great kit for the money! We have an older fireplace that is inoperable, but wanted to add some "warmth" during the holidays. This was a easy solution and the effect was spot on. Big effect, little light
This was a handy little light that I paired with a cardboard printed fire in an oven for Hansel and Gretel. Different modes of flickering too so you can change it according to what you need. Each light needs 8AA batteries, but not needing to find an outlet and not having a cord to trip on meant it was well worth it. I could put the whole thing in the "oven", no wires trailing out and spilling the effect

Well put together..
These are very well put together and provide a professional fire effect. I had to play with the settings to get it just right, but we used them to simulate a camp fire. Everyone was impressed with the effect.

Beautiful effect but has a short in the wire
The effect worked perfectly for a fake campfire in a dim room. It was beautiful and awed the kids! Battery life was not an issue using these for 2 hours a night for 4 nights. But after one day of use, one of my two units developed a short that caused it to go off when touched or moved. Every night when I would turn on the units, I had to jiggle and wiggle the wires to get them to stay on. I checked all connections but the short appeared to be in the wire itself been the bulb and the control switch. Once in the right configuration and back on, it could not be moved or touched without going off again. Thankfully it did not reset itself each time this happened, but started back on the same mode and speed at which it had been set.I can see many applications for these, but worry about how they will hold up.
