HDMI, VGA and Power "Down Angle" "USB" extension cables: Accurate connector types, vendor, and part numbers are in this review
I have had the monitor for a about a week now, it works as advertised. I found that it works well at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Also, I use the VGA Adapter Cable accessory plugged into the VGA socket. It was difficult to determine exactly what type of "USB" sockets are on the monitor as I wanted to use "Down Angle" extension cables; vendor and part numbers for this type of extension cable are at the end of this posting. After a fair amount of research, and a few false starts, I found the following "USB" socket definitions to be accurate: I hope you find the following information useful. The monitor's HDMI socket is a Micro HDMI Type D.The monitor's VGA socket is a Micro HDMI Type D.The monitor's power socket is a USB 2.0 Type Micro-B.The only problem is that the supplied HDMI and USB cables protrude horizontally from the monitor, as does the VGA adapter cable's connector. This not only takes up additional desk space, more importantly it puts the sockets on the monitors circuit board at risk of damage if the connectors are forced in any direction once plugged in to the monitor, "Down Angle" connectors present less risk.It was difficult to find the exact "Down Angle" extension cables, but I did they are as follows:I purchased the following "Down Angle" HDMI Type D and USB 2.0 Type Micro-B extension cables from www dot usbfirewire dot com. The cables were shipped immediately and delivered as promised. To my knowledge this vendor's products are not sold on Amazon. The cables are top quality, about 5 inches long, worked perfectly, and provide a toward the rear orientation for connecting the monitor's VGA and USB sockets.1. not so awesome any longer "Awesome 2nd monitor for laptops and mobile users"
After some seriously lightweight use, This monitor continues to get worse and worse. Now no matter which port I use the colors are all screwed up . It's almost like its trying to render in 3D (but all green) At first I thought it was just a bad cable like some others have commented on. But unfortunately changing cables did not change a thing. Now it works fine for about 1 minute out of every 20 minutes.I have kept this in a soft case inside a briefcase. It has never been damaged, never dropped, and handled with great care.I am sorely disappointed in how this has turned out.{Original Review}This makes a great 2nd monitor for road warriors. It is very thin and very light. It uses very little electricity. so little I can power it with my battery cell phone charger. The HDMI cord seems a bit short (I like to have this on the right side of my laptop and the hdmi port on the laptop is on the left and the hdmi port on this is on the right. so yeah I guess the designers thought people would use it the other way but I have a big 17 display on my laptop so I prefer that this be on the right. You can buy a longer hdmi cable but they want about $90 .. I just bought an hdmi extension. The cables are proprietary. meaning that the connectors to this monitor are not standard. You have to use the provided cables (so don't lose them)If you plan on using a charger to power this (and not the laptop) be sure your charger isn't over powering the monitor. the new cell chargers can be to much for this

At best this monitor was tolerable - only because it provided a second screen. I needed it for my document-heavy job, so color wasn't important most of the time (when I worked on graphics I used my laptop monitor). If color IS important to you, don't buy this monitor. That goes for sound as well, as the sound is quite tinny. This monitor served its purpose, and I would've used it indefinitely, but it died 09/2017. I purchased it 02/2016 and would've liked to at least gotten another year out of it to make it worth it (at which point I would've rated it 2 stars instead of 1). Adding to the irritation is that I paid $20 for the case that won't fit anything else.

Simple, attractive, easy
Simple, easy to use, slim, reasonably attractive. Can't ask for much more at this price. The plastic housing had a few scratches when we got it, but not enough to be bothersome for me. The enclosed micro-USB to USB powers the devide, and then the other connects to to the HDMI out of your source. A few minor quibbles: the fold-back base (as shown) is convenient if you're using this on a desk but not great for other angles. I just took it off and am leaning it against something else. Something that was important for me was that it has an on-off switch, which it does.I am connecting to a Mac Mini, which worked flawlessly. I already had the HDMI port going to an LCD projector, so I bought one of these (Sabrent Mini DisplayPort Thunderbolt 2 to HDMI Adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017NKIQ8M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) to connect to the mini display port of the Mac. Worked flawlessly.

Good for what is made for: On the move
It is perfect for on the move use, I yet to use on a long train trip with a PS4, but i'm quite sure it will work. What I don't like is it lacks contrast the colors are very much faded no matter what you do. I tried to crank that contrast to the max and still very low contrast. Any how it is powered by a freakin USB so what do you expect? The speakers are lame and useless, they just sound BAD, bring your own headphones. No heating issue so far and package was great. I just wish the image was more contrast(y)Another downside is the price, but they own the market now I didn't see any portable USB-powered screens with HDMI-input other than GeChic.so maybe in the near future we will see more competition with better price tags.

One of my most favourite portable external monitors on the market.
I primarily bought this to use for my Surface Pro 3 to skyrocket my productivity. Works as soon as you connect it, no additional drivers necessary. Just a note, you will need to buy a Female HDMI to Male MiniDisplay port adapter to get it working on a Surface Pro 3 (and other specific Apple products if you're using an Apple product). Despite it's advertised 1366x768 resolution, I was able to get it to 1920x1080 with my Surface Pro 3 (not sure if this is applicable for other laptops with that kind of capability. This is most likely possible due to the drivers on the Surface Pro 3). I prefer this portable monitor against other monitors on the market that reliable on USB only as the USB aspect makes it a nightmare to connect to devices like the Surface Pro 3. Not to mention you don't incur any displaylink driver issues.

love that it connects via hdmi and not USB
Extremely handy monitor, love that it connects via hdmi and not USB. I use this with my surface pro3 when on the road and it makes a fantastic productivity team. The weight of this monitor and my surface is about the same as lugging a single 15" laptop. I plug the power USB into the USB out of the surface charger brick. You need to turn the monitor on before hooking it up for some reason. Kind of annoying. And I'm concerned about the longevity of the small cable ends and the ports.Resolution and viewing angle is lacking but at this price point with the portability factor it's just fine. They do offer a better quality one at a higher price point but for portable work this is good enough.

It does require the purchase of an extra adapter for the Macbook but I am very happy with it
It is a lot lighter than I expected. It does require the purchase of an extra adapter for the Macbook but I am very happy with it. Instructions as to how to configure the colours are a bit lacking - even on YouTube. Everyone can tell you how to set it up but I wanted to make sure that I was looking at 2 screens with similar colours and that was challenging to set up initially. Overall, I love it and now 2 others friends have purchased one. It really is very light weight.

The monitor is fairly expensive but performs really well for ...
Updated review: Either the ports, the cords, or both, are of very poor quality and after a few connects and disconnects the inputs barely hold on and frequently disconnect with the slightest movement.Very disappointed as this makes the monitor diffcult to use.
