Kiefer SaferSwimmer Large Buoy

This is great for open-water swimmers. I have had numerous comments from those on shore, about how easily they can spot me in the distance. Boaters have also commented on how they wish all swimmers [in water bodies shared by boaters and swimmers] would wear one, as it makes the swimmer so much more visible. When your swim buddy wears one too, it is super helpful for easily and quickly spotting your buddy, so your rhythm is less interrupted as you check for your buddy's location. I tried it today for two miles in open salt water with significant wave and tidal surges, and loaded it with wallet, phone, and bottle of water. Usually, I don't feel it at all; this time I encountered it occasionally during my strokes but actually quite rarely and did not find it a bother (The length of the strap can be adjusted so that might be a solution). It was nice to take a break and hug the float awhile, or even use it as a pillow and float on my back! I plan to load it with my crocs so I can swim to an island and go for a walk on the island on arrival! I feel a LOT more confident now carefully crossing areas where there is boat traffic.I bought one for my husband as well; he is a sinker in water (while I can float with no effort). It's a big relief, when he uses his, to know that he has a backup should anything go wrong when he is open-water swimming. I am hoping that more and more folks up our way will adopt this float (I already "sold" two more! Do I get a commission??!).

Finally had a chance to try it. Completely comfortable. The only time I could tell it was there was when I was first getting going. Sits above the legs and below the arms so you don't bump into it. I had to take a few breaks to catch my breath and it was easy to just hang out on the buoy.Much more noticeable than a swim cap. Was able to bring my car keys and phone (in a secondary dry bag) and PackTowl along with me and all was well when I climbed out of the water.My triathlete friends were impressed.

I bought this bouy for my wife and for a little peace of mind for myself. She often goes open water swimming. She stashes a little towel, and her keys in it. It is bright orange and therefore EVERYONE notices her which is good being that she doesn't want to be hit by other swimmers or boats. The bouy creates a little drag while she swims but she doesn't mind. Although it isn't necessarily a life saving device and is supposed to be only used by avid swimmers it is useful to grab on to when one needs a rest or when one is suffering from cramping muscles.

Wouldn't swim in open water without it. A swimmer in open-water is almost invisible, even with a bright swim cap, and the SaferSwimmer really solves that safety problem. Plus you can carry valuables, etc. with you with NO impediment to swimming. Finally, if you tire, this does become a safety support buoy. My local tri club requires it on all club open-water swim workouts.

The SafeSwimmer Large Buoy is a must have if you swim open water with boater traffic or if you just want the security of having a float to hang on to for any reason. The high visibility orange color is difficult to miss and i forget it's floating behind me. I've only used it on the lake in calm to choppy conditions and I was pleased with the materials used and ease of use.

Have been using for two years. Easy to where, good quality. Makes me visible to boats. I purchased the larger one, which I was happy I did. Great for a float when you want to rest or take in the scenery. The compartment is relatively small but good for carrying smaller things - too small for a a beach towel or clothing.

No drag great buy .. Doing out door swims on a lack is a must for triathletes..the Buoy us well made sturdy about the size of two footballs end to end and ad tall.. Seen very well in the water.. The dry bag built in is large though I have not tested that as of review.

Keeps my keys drive and helps my visibility in open water. Only downside is that it gets in the way of my stroke.
