Quiet as a Rolls
This is an excellent barrelling machine. The rubber barrel is sealed at one end so there is no danger of one of the lids coming off as with some other barrels. The lid is really tight fitting so no seepage although it can be a bit tricky to get on and off if you have arthritic fingers. When the machine is running it is so quiet you are hardly aware of it operating, unlike plastic barrels which are really noisy. It came with a quantiy of steel shot and a frothing polishing compound, the latter being very economical as only a small amount (around a teaspoon) is required in this barrel to give effective cleaning. The motor part is housed in a really basic designed casing with two rollers that rotate the barrel. I was very pleased with the end result of a piece that I polished soon after purchasing this machine. Great little product and would recommend.

I am not sure it works all that well. ...
I am not sure it works all that well. After nearly 3 weeks of tumbling, the stones are smooth but not as much as I expected. They are just ok. It probably needs to be on for longer but the noise is ridiculous and my household is rebelling against it.

dont waste your money
not impressed by quality of machine, rollers look cheap like a home made job, whatever you do to level the machine it does not run true, the stainless steel pin suppled and barrel bright don't do a lot? tried running for various durations between 4 and 10 hours but does not make a lot of difference. I am only cleaning various copper/alloy metal detecting finds like buttons 'buckles and coins, very ,very, disappointed,in it,in fact i told my wife it was £30 not the £130 I paid and she thought that was expensive.

Large size hard rubber drum for the keen stone polisher.
Great product with useful large hard rubber drum for many stones or slightly larger stones per 'go'. Easy to set up, reliable, kit comes with some products for putting in drum with stones.

Very poor result
All the silver that I polished in this ended up with a pitted surface! Absolutely gutted! What a waste of money!!!

Barreling machine
Machine very efficient. Have cleaned copper and silver jewellery, simple to use. No need to use much of the cleaning powder, and able to reuse several times.

Please stop the silly "blaming machine for poor results" type comments and learn to use it...
I have one of these machine and it's painful to see the negative reviews when I know for fact the reason for the negative results is user error in every single case. What I mean is a tumbler is a learning curve and until one knows the process/media best for whatever it is they are tumbling how can they blame the machine? The machines are well constructed (at least mine is) and even if there was some small detail wrong it doesn't effect the tumbling. Really, I can't understand how ridiculous some of the comments are on this machine and to be honest most who say the machine is at fault when the real reason is they can't be bothered to learn how to use it, well, maybe this activity isn't for them (that's my nice way of putting it).Tumbling whether it be rocks. metals or other materials is an art in itself to get the desired results. Knowing the best type of media for the items to be tumbled, the length of time for each stage and how many stages it will take to complete to the desired effect is something that needs to be learnt. Take the time to learn the art and the results will be as expected.I hope this rather straight forward review will help some and stop the silly comments blaming the machine for the poor results. A tumbling machine's build quality might be good or bad that is obvious, but the tumbling regime isn't what makes the machine good or bad.
