Easy (relatively) setup and accurate
I've always wanted a weather station, especially living out west because I've found that weather can vary greatly from official reports just a few miles away. The setup was (relatively) easy, pop the batteries in and they began communicating immediately. The mounting equipment supplied seems to allow for a number of options and went seamlessly. Getting the unit to connect to my wifi was... a tad unusual, but ultimately not that difficult. I had a few issues getting my phone to connect to the units wifi, but that was more due to my phones wifi settings than the unit itself and setting up the weather underground account and getting my data to upload was seamless. I was disappointed that this unit doesn't connect to the myacurite app, however it does state this in the manufacturers comments, so more my fault in not carefully reading them first, however the weather underground web site does allow me to remotely see the data I'm interested in. I was surprised at how accurate the wind speed and direction sensors are despite my suboptimal sensor location and the temperatures, indoor and outdoor appear accurate compared to my thermostat and other neighborhood readings. Within hours, the unit confirmed what I've always suspected. We live at a slightly higher altitude than most nearby sensors and tend to get slightly different wind speeds and directions than many of our neighbors. Being in southern California, living away from the coast, I was most interested in the wind direction. Winds from the south and west mean more temperate temperatures and higher humidity. Winds from the north and east mean drier and hotter temperatures and the wind direction almost always changes from desert winds to coastal some time during the afternoon. Knowing when those winds shift gives me a good idea whether it's going to be hotter or cooler in an hour or two. I haven't been able to judge the rain sensor, however rain is so rare here, that isn't really my primary interest.

I like it
It was a little hard to set up for Wi-Fi, but we were finished within an hour once we got it calibrated for rain. Weโre ready to go now we just gotta wait for the rain. I wish it was clear when you look at it from all angles. I am happy with it. I like how the app pulls up on the map everybody around you that has the same weather station. We have hayfields everywhere and itโs nice to know what people around us have as far as rain goes.

Very satisfied so far... although set up to the wifi can be a PAIN!!! (instructions below)
Display has all the good information needed. Scrolling thru the history is simple also. The multi-lighted screen is a nice option. Keeping the temperature is good (but we needed to calibrate it!) What is a pain is getting it all setup. It is not PLUG IN PLAY! I had to adjust the temperature to be accurate (which can be tricky if you do not have something with the correct) . Waiting for it to rain to see how it tracks. Also, if the rain gauge is bumped, it may not register rain correctly. I suggest getting it all set up in its spot before adjusting any settings. Unfortunately, I have had to do a "reset" (button by batteries) many times going through the setup process and troubleshooting things. Wish I could just reset the daily rain totals and not the whole thing. I believe you can reset the week/ month/ yearly total but not the daily. LOL TO ADJUST TEMPERATURE - Hold the arrow up/ down and gear icon at the same time. Hold for about 8-10 seconds and release. - Only the temperature will show. - Use the up/ down arrows to adjust accordingly. - Push the gear to go to the next temp or precipitation that you want to adjust. - Once done leave it alone and it will go back to standard display screen TO CONNECT YOUR DISPLAY TO YOUR WI-FI: -From a smartphone (recommended), tablet, or Wi-Fi-enabled computer, open an internet browser and type 192.168.4.1 in the URL - DO NOT PRESS ENTER NOTE: Please make sure that you are near your AcuRite display unit for the strongest connection during the following steps. -Open the network tab and click on the AcuRite Wi-Fi Display Model Number. NOTE: The network tab is located in the bottom right corner of your computer screen on the taskbar, as shown below. If using a smartphone or tablet, you will need to access the Wi-Fi settings to view the list of available Wi-Fi networks. NOTE: If you do not see the display model under your network tab, please reset the display by pressing and holding the RESET button for 10 seconds, located in the battery compartment of the display. The date and time will need to be entered after a reset. -Press the connect button for the network that includes the Display Model Number. NOTE: This will disconnect your computer/device from your internet and the display's network may also say No Internet, as shown below. -After 20 seconds, go back to that prepared browser that has 192.168.4.1 typed in the URL and press enter. -Once the AcuRite Wi-Fi display settings website (splash page) is open, select your Wi-Fi network's SSID from the dropdown (if you have a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz, be sure to select the 2.4 GHz), enter your Password, Station ID, and Station Key, then click save. NOTE: If you are unable to open the AcuRite Wi-Fi display settings website after connecting to the display, disconnect from the display under the network tab, open a different internet browser, enter The IP address 192.168.4.1 into the URL but DO NOT PRESS ENTER. Connect to the display under the network tab and wait 20 seconds before clicking enter on the internet browser with the IP address entered. NOTE: If you receive an error stating that "This site can't be reached", please make sure that you are still connected to the AcuRite network and not your home Wi-Fi network. If your device automatically reconnected to your home Wi-Fi network before you were able to reach the AcuRite Wi-Fi display settings website, please have your device forget your home Wi-Fi network so that it will stay connected to the AcuRite network. -Your Wi-Fi Display unit is now connected to your Wi-Fi network! -First, reconnect your device back to your home Wi-Fi network if you are still connected to the display's Wi-Fi. Often times your device will automatically reconnect to your home Wi-Fi after completing the setup. Your station should come online on Weather Underground within a few minutes. (We recommend allowing at least 20 minutes for the station to show as online if it doesn't show up right away.) ACURITE IRISยฎ (5-IN-1) TEMPERATURE READING TOO HIGH (CHECK THE FAN IS WORKING) -Remove the four outer screws on the bottom of the sensor. Keep the screws for re-assembly. Note: Be careful not to remove or adjust the rain calibration screws located beneath the rain gauge. -Separate the upper and lower halves of the sensor. -Check the fan for debris, such as insects or spider webs. A gentle puff of air can clear most obstructions safely. -If no debris appears to be blocking the fan, position the top white portion of the sensor (that has the solar panel) in direct, bright sunlight. The fan should power on immediately without any assistance (such as a nudge). Note: Artificial light, such as flashlights, cannot be used as a substitute for actual sunlight. Also, overcast days may not be sunny enough to power on the fan. To reassemble the sensor, bring the two halves of the sensor back together. Reinstall the four outer screws to join the upper and lower portions of the sensor together.

Very accurate and easy to read once you get through the instructions
I bought it on May 20th 2025 and installed the sensor and set up the account through weather underground ๐. I found the sensor to be accurate within 2 degrees of temperature and 1/10th of an inch for rain fall measurements compared to weather channel and local weather and news channels. I found during the setting up was A LOT EASIER using my laptop and then signing in through the phone app using the user name and password that I set it up with the laptop. It does take a couple of weeks for the sensor to properly calibate for weather predictions. Also found instructions confusing at first so I opened my laptop and then went step by step as I was setting it up and found it NOT as confusing as I went along. Last thing I found in the instructions that was contradicting, was where to place sensor outside. On one page, it states that it needs to be in the sun so the solar panels capture the sun throughout the day. Then on another page, it states the sensor needs to be in the shade to get the most accurate temperature reading. Confusing right??!!!!?!??? I installed the sensor in full view of the sun making sure the sensor pointed north per the instructions and solar panels getting all the sun it could handle (BTW I live in south Florida) and so far the temperature sensor has been reading within a couple degrees of actual temperature. Other than the confusing instructions, I'm actually glad I got the acurite weather system.

acurite 5 in 1 wifi no longer has a working app.
Review of Acurite 5 in 1 wifi weather station After writing this my weather station stopped sending updates to weather underground. So there is no updates on the app. WU blames acurite and acurite blames WU..Is there a ZERO rating? The Bad: The easy setup on the box is a jokeโฆ 1) Connecting my laptop to the acurite display wifi took 3 tries. And my laptop was right next to the display unit. First try didnโt connect. Second try connected and timed out before I could enter everything. Third try worked. (FYI my router is only 2 feet away). NOTE this is a tricky setup. You first connect your PC to the wifi signal in the display unit, then when your pc is connected to the display WIFI, you go to 192.168.4.1 on the pc web browser to finish the setup by inputting your network sign on information. 2) Getting a reading from the sensor also took way too much effort. After waiting several minutes after inserting new batteries in the sensor, nothing happened so I replaced batteries the new batteries with another set of new batteries.. No luckโฆ Still nothing on the display. I Moved the abc switch in sensor from a to c and back to a, no luckโฆ Did the same thing then in display and it connectedโฆWHAT.. 3) There are no instructions at all about what app to use. I registered my unit with the weather underground site per instructions, then tried to use the acurite app to connect and view my sensors. Spent two hours getting failed to connect messages (even after completely redoing the entire startup procedure) so texted support. They responded quickly the day after thanks giving, so kudoโs for that. However support told me my model wouldnโt connect to the accurate app, I had to use the weather underground appโฆtotal of 3 hours lost for nothing. 4) Downloaded the weather underground app, and there was nothing to select my unit on the app. I went to their website on my pc, and there it was, on line and showing dataโฆAfter several hours trying to find my weather station I finally figured it out. When the app starts it wants a location. I entered my zip code and the local weather displayed. Then I tried not entering anything and a map of the US showed up. I zoomed in on my area, and little dots showed up of personal weather stations. I tapped on one near me, and presto I found my dataโฆ 5) The Documentation includes a sensor manual and a display manual. Neither manual details what should happen first second third etc. in the setup process. A separate QUICK SETUP document is needed to show what order to setup the devices and what to expect with each step. 6) Total time to get the unit working and the app working was 4 hoursโฆNot easy setupโฆand the documentation could be much better with some pictures, and links to videos. 7) By Far the dumbest design of this unit is the base. NO ADJUSTMENT AT ALL. Works great in one position and canโt see it another just slightly lower. 8) Your inside temperature does not get transmitted to weather underground. This a big disappointment as we travel a lot and need to check inside temperature during the winter. 9) There is no Day with the date. I NEED to know what day it is every morning. True I can use my phone but why when the first thing I look at is my weather station. 10) There is no telephone support. I could find only 1 video on their web site and it was to show how to mount the sensor (the easiest part of the process). You must text or e-mail. Probably due to language barriers. 11) Wind Speed displays; now, avg., and peak. The only problem is you have to push the up arrow button to cycle thru them (not covered in the manual). My lacross shows current and peak all the time. The apps do show current and peak so itโs not a total terrible. 12) The size of the wind speed font is only readable up close. All the other fonts are like 10 and 12 but wind speed below 10mph are like 6. Above 9 MPH and it jumps to a readable 8.. 13) After a month I had to reset my wifi for a camera issue I was having, and the weather station lost connection with wunderground .com. Reset it, not go. Went through the entire start up process again, no go.. The good and sorta good: 1) The display is very well organized and the colors make it easy to find and separate the readings. 2) The batteries in the display keep your settings saved for moving the display and power outages. 3) There is a procedure (had to contact support to get it I will post it at the bottom) for adjusting all the temperature and humidity readings. My in house temperature was 4 degrees off from everything else in my house. 4) As mentioned above, chat support was very quick to respond but would have preferred phone support. 5) Having manual entry (one time) of date and times is much preferred to having it provided from wifi. My lacross station stopped communicating with wifi after only 2 years, so it stopped displaying a valid date and time. 6) The apps: PWSmoniter was the easiest to setup and shows everything on a single page, both current and historical readings. Historical is displayed as charts.. After getting a device ID and KEY from weather underground, all you need to enter is the device ID. Nothing elseโฆvery simple. The weather underground app was more difficult to install and read. I Had to enter both values and finding my device after setup was quite difficult. myPWS app was impossible. You need a third entry; an API key, and getting it required me to use the PC on the weather underground site. Not a real obvious procedure either.. In the myPWS app, itโs a 32 digit entry, and even though I triple checked it, and could not get it to work.. PWSmoniter has it hand down over lacross view app. There is nothing good about their app 7) The three levels of brightness and a fourth option of automatic change are really a good idea. Finding the adjustment button was a stroke of luck though.

Easy to Set Up
Despite the problems mentioned by other reviewers, I had no problems setting up the weather station. Directions were clear and easy to follow for setting up the station, connecting to the internet, and for setting up the Weather Underground account and creating my Personal Weather Station.

A Decent Device Marred by Cheap, Unreliable Screws - Avoid if You Value Your Time and Hardware
I'll start by saying that I think the AcuRite Iris (5-in-1) Weather Station is a decent device. It provides accurate readings of temperature, humidity, wind speed, and other weather conditions. The design is sleek, and the display is user-friendly. However, my frustration with this product stems from the abysmal quality of the screws that come with it. It's been clear for some time now that AcuRite has cut costs to the bone. I've seen their products go from being reliable and well-made to flimsy, brittle pieces of junk. The screws they ship with this weather station are a prime example. They're not just cheap - they're made of a material that's closer to a block of cheddar cheese than any viable metal alloy. Mounting this device is an exercise in frustration. Every time I try to secure it to a wall or a post, the screws strip themselves instantly. I've stripped at least 5 of them already, and I'm not even sure how many more are left before they all fail completely. The wind and weather conditions won't care that this device is supposed to be "indoor/outdoor" - they'll just keep pounding it with moisture and debris. I've come to realize that AcuRite's business model relies on building these products at the bare minimum cost possible, no matter how much it ruins the product. They're all about extracting every penny from their customers, even if it means sacrificing quality and reliability. It's disappointing, especially for a device that's supposed to live outside. If you value your time and hardware, I would strongly advise against purchasing this weather station. There are far better options out there that won't leave you stranded with a useless piece of junk. AcuRite needs to go back to building products with some semblance of quality control. Until then, I'd rather not support their brand.

Great home weather station!
Easy set up.

It works as described
Solid product with many mounting options. The only thing I would have liked to have seen is rechargeable batteries in the unit (using the solar panels to keep it charged). Wi-Fi connectivity is fiddly but it works.
