Mephisto Women's Helen Twist Gladiator Sandal

I'm in the younger group and I was recently diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and found these while looking for sandals for my PF. These are so cute, like boho cute! And there aren't that many PF friendly shoes out there that are cute. My doctor recommended Birks, but I already had a pair that I didn't think were that supportive. These are definitely supportive. Took about a day to get used to the support, but it was in a good way like, "Oh! This is what I've been missing." I would even say that they are slightly more supportive than the inserts that I got from my doctor. My only concern when buying was that they didn't have wide in stock and I typically buy wide for comfort. However, I found that with the need for support for the PF, these were perfect.

Update: These quickly became my favorite shoes. I get compliments on them all the time, and they're super comfortable. I liked that they are more feminine looking that regular birkenstock style. They're expensive, but I figured if I divide the price by how often I wear them, they're worth it. After the first summer of wearing them about 50% of the time, they looked really stained, and then the toe strap ripped up out of the footbed, so I took them to the cobbler to have them cleaned and fixed. I few months later, they looked stained again and the other toe strap ripped up out the footbed. Obviously these aren’t well made and don’t stand up to the test of time like Birkenstocks do. I won’t be paying to fix them a second time — better investment to just go back to buying Birkenstocks.

I love my Mephisto sandals. These are the same style as 3 other pair that I have purchased in the past with the exception of the braid. All my previous sandals were the Helen without the twist. Never had an issue with fit with any of them before. The last is the same, so the footbed fits the same. Where the sandal is too small is the leather that goes over your toes. Could not get my great toe into the loop and the braid part is too tight to comfortably cross the remaining tarsals. But, the workmanship is outstanding! Until Mephisto fixes this problem, stick with the Helen without the twist!

I just loved the look of these. They suckered me into teying them despite reading other reviews of being narrow. This type of style really should be roomy like birkenstocks. If you have more slender feet these might work well for you. I thinknthry miggt evsn be snug in reg width feet. I dont normally ever buy wide shoes but my feet are a tad wider than an average foot i'd guess you say by a bit. So if your in my boat just dont try lol. Quality is nice otherwise. Definitly need breaking in leather is a bit stiff and foot bed needs to mild to you. So dont think.you can walk all day the first day in these if they fit you.

I opened the box a couple of hours ago and have had Mephisto sandals in the past so was excited to have a new pair.The toe box on the left was very tight. What was strange was they looked as though they had been worn. The foot pad was stained and looked dirty for a brand new pair of sandals. One of the straps was on the 3rd hole, one on the first, and there was a mark on the strap where the hole was as if someone had worn them. But mostly they were so very uncomfortable. I walked on a plush carpet (no floors) and they didn't feel like they would work well for me at all. I am disappointed to have to return them, but they are too pricey to try to make them work.

Expensive shoe, but worth every penny. The soft nubuck does not rub, excellent support. I am embarrassed by the number of quality sandals I own and yet this is the one that is always on my feet. I also own a different leather version of the Helen style, but I find the nubuck leather to be soft and superior as the stiffer material has cut my feet. I have worn the Helen twist nearly daily for a year and it still feels and looks great.

this is my fourth pair of Mephisto sandals. I love them! I wear a women's size 9 and ordered a 40. The size 40 or ten fit me perfectly. They run a bit small usually so I order a size up. I have trouble with my feet. I am on my feet all day and these give me wonderful arch support ! they usually last me 3 years.

I copied my sister and bought a pair of these and love them. The color is spot on, the leather is soft and breaks in more with use, the foot bed is firm, comfortable and supportive. No need for my orthodics with these.They look so great with casual outfits. I love the cross over design with the braid. It is more interesting than most sandals like this.I highly recommend these and think they are just as nice as Birkenstock.
