Kelty Upslope Tarp

Works well as a 'front porch' for my Kelty TN-2 tent. Normally, I would use a trekking poles to pitch the tarp as a stand-alone shelter. I tried one trekking pole with the tarp attached to my Kelty TN-2 but that does not provide any head-room.Next deployment, I used one of the Kelty adjustable tarp poles that I purchased for my Kelty Noah's tarp and that did the trick. In addition, I guyed out the end of the tarp that extends over the tent instead of snapping together using the buckles on the tents rain-fly and tarp. By guying out the tent end of the tarp. I was able to pull the tarp tight and achieve a good pitch for the tarp with plenty of head room for sitting outside during rainy times of the day. The only downside to the tarp is the weight. But if you want a quality tarp that is waterproof and has guide lines then you have to have a little weight to it. It keeps the sun and rain off.

This tarp is solid and lightweight and serves well over a hammock or as a tarp-tent (when insects aren’t active).

I personally love this tarp. I use it on my Kelty Salida 2 and it gives so much extra room outside when its raining or snowing. When your backpacking the only shelter you have is what you take with you. I really like the adjustable guylines as well. Highly Recommended

Previously had purchased the Kelty tent as a gift for my son and his wife and they chose this style because it packs small and light to carry.So I got this additional tarp that matches to use for a fly or shade for their dog when camping. They have used numerous times in UT already.

A very nice tarp, larger than I expected. All of the seams are sealed. This model includes a connector so you can extend the vestibule of a TN2 or TN3 tent. -1 star for using black guy lines, I replaced them with orange on my tent.
