InstaFire Eco-Friendly Combo Pack of Granulated Single Use Fire Starter and Charcoal Starter Pouches

I frequently backpack and have been using Esbit solid cubes to start my twig stove. I am not a huge fan of the Esbit. You have to shave them to start them, they are expensive at $1 per cube, and they get all beat up in my backpack (the foil backing is weak).I used the InstaFire this trip. It started easily and got the job done. I only started two fires and have a lot left in the bag (probably will get four fires out of each bag), so it is very economical and the bag is pretty durable.

I am not sure if I was using it incorrectly or if it's supposed to pair with lighter fluid, but I went camping and it did not work. I had to drive 2 hours out to go buy lighter fluid to get this to work. The first night, we were left cold and without fire.

Product showed up....half of the bags split open. Huge mess all over table when opened. Bs

i got it for my BBQ, but it doesn't work well there and the package instructions aren't too clear.....it states it is good for starting 4 fires....but doesn't say whether u should divide the contents into 4 piles or use the entire package 4 times,,,,either way the pebbles fall thru the grates of the bbq and the flames aren't high enough to reach the charcoal....perhaps it would work better on the ground if u were camping
