Expensive but worth it.
This is my 2nd rotting 800+ pencil, had to get silver version....Quality is excellent with both. Lead feds well through the mechanism and the retractable tip is very smooth. Also, I use the rubber tip on tablets more than I thought I would, comes in very handy when filling out pdf forms on the IPad.Only thing that could make them was if they were cheaper.

Very expensive but if you love incredibly high quality and great design this is for you. Simply looks good sitting on the desk and it’s a joy to use

The Pencil To Own
The sleeve broke off my previous pencil, which was a Pentel. With this one the sleeve retracts into the body so it isn’t likely to get bent or broken, unless you drop it on the floor while using it.With the sleeve retracted it will not stab through your shirt pocket, which was a problem with my previous one.The stylus is excellent, especially for texting without activating several keys, on the phone keyboard, at the same time.It has an all metal construction which gives it a nice weight and a solid feel when being used.It is quite expensive but, I think, well worth the money.A couple of people have used it for jotting down a note and have said what a nice bit of kit it is.

Great pencil but the 'touchscreen rubber tip' doesn't work brilliantly.
Brilliant bit of kit, great smooth action, very satisfying. The rubber tip doesn't respond very quickly when touching the ipad, you have to press it quite hard to get it to register which is a bit of a shame, if this were better I'd have given it 5 stars.

Do not buy! Buy the Rotring 800 (no plus) instead.
Unfortunately, the pencil I received lived to none of the expectations one would have for a 70 £ premium piece of stationery. This was evident from the first time of writing. The nib is badly fitted within the retracting mechanism, resulting in the tip being very wobbly when writing. Worst of all is the fact that the pencil keeps "eating up" the lead within it, meaning that the lead would break every 10 or so minutes inside the pencil as one writes. This is not to do with writing under too much pressure since high pressure would lead to lead breakage at the tip, not within the pencil. This is rather likely due to a badly-designed interior mechanism. This constant lead breakage is extremely inconvenient if one desires seamless writing, expected from such a premium piece of stationery or any stationery at all, for example during an exam.If you buy the Rotring 800 (not the plus) today, you will likely buy a new model which fixes the above problems of lead breakage and wobbling. On the other hand, the plus still has these issues. The stylus in the year 2020 is useless. It may have had a market back when the Rotring 800+ came out last decade, but serves no purpose today. It barely works on an iPhone and iPad, requiring a large pressure to register on the display, and many tablets already have proprietary styluses such as the apple pencil which are touch sensitive and much more responsive, unlike the stylus. Remember that this pencil was released at a time when styluses were a "cool new quicky fad" rather than a perfected piece of equipment such as apple pencils today. Additionally, the stylus makes the pencil look extremely ugly compared with the Rotring 800.TLDR: The Rotring 800 (not the plus) is a much better option compared to the 800+. Not only does it not have the abysmal problems of nib wobble and lead breakage seen in the 800+, but the 800 also looks infinitely better. The only reason one would buy a Rotring 800+ would be for the stylus functionality, but as established, the stylus hardly works and is obsolete today, being hugely inferior to the styluses (eg apple pencil) available in 2020. If it is not yet clear what to buy, do NOT buy the 800+. Buy the Rotring 800 instead. In my opinion, the 800+ should no longer exist today given the advancements in styluses, whilst the 800 remains a beautiful and functional icon reminiscent of Rotring's proud past. Do not make the mistake I made of going for the 800+, regretting it, returning it, and wasting a lot of time. Attached is the result of the pencil's lead-gobbling behaviour.
