Healed me forever
This book. My God. I am 26& have struggled with anorexia for years. I finally got help 7 months ago& have made 0 progress, despite a full care team and external pressure. I picked this book up in desperation hoping to be understood and I sure was. The last weeks since my therapist and dietitian are both shocked how well I’ve been eating& celebrating recovery. Jenni makes us all feel like recovery is for us too. 💗 Forever indebted.. I feel free.

Very good... worth reading.
I recently finished reading the Kindle edition of this book. I started reading her first book (Life without Ed) as a paperback in the hospital bc they wouldn't let me have my kindle. The result being that I stopped reading it as soon as I got home and have still never finished it. I'll get around to it eventually. I really like this second book. JS is very positive and upbeat. Part 6 was surprisingly good; it dealt with perfectionism as something separate from ED that may remain in other parts of your life even when you're ED behavior has ceased. I was really surprised at how much that spoke to me. JS definitely seems to be someone who believes that "full recovery" is possible, rather than recovery being a life long process. I don't have a firm opinion on this personally, but I know that it flies in the face of most everything else I have ever read, heard in treatment, etc. I found her writing style somewhat overly cutesy and annoying, but that is simply a matter of taste, not a reflection of her skill as a writer. I like that she encourages spirituality without insisting upon it, and that she encourages a spiritual search that suits the individual rather than endorsing a particular religion. She has some good things to say also about "following your heart" which sounds cliche, but in fact boils down to living your own life based on your happiness and values rather than trying to conform to external standards, the approval of others, etc. I had already arrived at that conclusion on my own, but it was really nice to see it presented here.

Super Helpful
I bought this with Life without Ed but didn't read it til I was further along in my recovery. It was so helpful for me to see that someone had fully recovered. I took many notes and could relate to her story. I love how funny and practical Jenny is.

Not horrible but not great
This book is ok. It is nice to hear from someone that has recovered from an eating disorder, but I didn't really find the information in it all that helpful with my eating disorder. Most of what was in this book is basic advice that you would find if you googled eating disorder advice. The book is also written in a bit of an annoying format. Each idea she presents has its own "chapter". That works well for presenting an idea, but it doesn't lend itself well to giving you a good understanding of concept. This book doesn't really do a good job of explaining all the nuances of her suggestions (problems that may come up, pushback from your family, etc). I think the concept of this book was great, but the execution of it kind of sucked.

An Inspirational and Important Read
Jenni is an absolute inspiration, a fearless writer, and a revolutionary thinker in the eating disorder field. Positioning herself as someone who is not "in recovery," but actually "recovered" distinguishes her from many other writers who have tackled this material, and the distinction provides hope to many of us who continue to struggle. The work she has done in this book, as well as Life Without Ed and Almost Anorexic offers hope to anyone who has struggled with an eating disorder or has been personally affected by one. Her voice is an important one in the ongoing dialogue around body image and EDs, and I'm so grateful for her contributions to the discussion.

Mother of son
I decided to read this book after noticing my son has relapsed. I want to educate myself the beat way I can, so I can better support him. I was able to take away a lot from this book and conversation starters with my son.

Eating Disorder Resources
This is a great follow up to Life without ED, her first book. It is easy to read, you can start it and put it down and go back to the places you find especially helpful, this book is a must read for those coping with ED. This is also a good resources for thwe family and friends of the victim( I say victim not patient). ED is a criminal that attacks the mind and needs to be arrested and taken away, not lived with. This book will be helpful for the beginner as well as a veteran of the ED war.

Family member says it best describes what they felt with eating disorder. Read it and weep.
Suggest any parent, family member, friend reads this to try to best help someone suffering with eating disorder. Who have relevance for addictions too. Helped us to start seeing from the viewpoint of the victim when all you had felt sometime before was was, JUST EAT AND DONT MAKE YOURSELF SICK!!!"
