Great Ideas to Implement in My Own Church!
I recently was privileged to hear Brian Haynes speak at the D6 Conference in Frisco, Texas, and his brief discussion really convinced me to buy his book and discover what worked for him and his church. I shared this with my senior pastor, and we're totally on board with implementing this strategy with our own church. We have been doing a number of the "milestones" already, but we never were very intentional about addressing them in partnership with the parents. SHIFT gave us a great framework to plug our existing programs into, and it has given us ideas on how to deepen what we're already doing as well as add what we haven't been doing. I appreciated his emphasis that the strategy he outlined is what has been tweaked and put together for HIS church. Each of us, in our own respective churches, needs to determine what God is calling us to and how He is calling us to implement it. I'm in Northern Maine, so how we "do" church and the members of our congregation will be unique to those in Texas. All in all, a very good catalyst to get us well on our way to partnering with parents!

Great read, yet challenging.
As a pastor understand the need for an intentional strategy to equip parents to become the primary disciple-makers of their children. As a parent, I feel intimidation of such a task.Brian lays out a plan in "Shift" that helps equip churches and parents to serve the role God specifically lays out for each.

New paradigm for Family Ministry
The approach to Family Ministry that Brian Haynes lays out in Shift is helpful departure from the conventional, programmatic approach. It is accessible and practical, empowering parents to be the primary spiritual leaders for their children. Tremendous resource!

Good book, worthy of your time.
Books focusing on the proper role of parents in the spiritual formation of their children are growing. There is debate in how much the church plays a role in this. This book adds to the conversation and is helpful. Not the best book out there, but a good read nonetheless.

May Inspire others
Interesting read about the ministry at their church. Not relevant to all cultures and communities. A little brief and incomplete, seems more like a teaser to get you to buy in to a larger program. It was worth a look to see how God is working in different parts of the body of Christ.

Great!
I liked how this used the events in a child's life to celebrate and move the families forward in their walk towards raising their child to love God.

wonderful resource and thought-provoking
This is a book that will make you think about your current ministry to families and ministry overall. There is such a great need to connect church with family and this is an excellent resource to move you in that direction. Excellent read that was very practical.

A Children's Pastor's perspective
Some excellent and challenging ideas. However, they are really only implementatible if the entire church is on board. I would not suggest reading this if you're looking for something specific to children's ministry.
