Strong and durable case for people with butter fingers
I've used OtterBox Defender cases to protect both my Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7, and never had any issues with them taking fall damage. Given that this case for the Pixel 3 XL uses the exact same design as those two cases, I don't expect my phone to ever be damaged from falls under 4 feet while in it.DESIGNI don't use the clip/holster, so I won't talk about it. The case is made up of 2 main parts: 1) A thick rubbery outer shell, and 2) a hard plastic inner shell with thin foam inner backing. The outer shell is a bit thick, but feels very durable. The rubbery material makes it easy to grip the phone, and not slide out of moist or sweaty hands. It has a little cover for the USB-C port at the bottom to protect from dust and debris getting in. The inner shell is made of 2 pieces that securely snap together along the outer edge. The snaps along the edge can be pretty stiff, so disassembling it for the first time might be a bit difficult. Once you get the snaps off on one side and the upper and lower edges, you can sort of open the halves up like a book and slide the phone in without disassembling it completely. Just don't try to force it open. Once you get everything together, though, the phone fits nice and snugly into the case with no sliding around. This case is THICK (see photos), which for some people can be a negative. Still fits in my jeans' front pocket. I don't mind it so much, as I'm okay with sacrificing portability and comfort a bit for durability. When holding my phone with this case on it, it just feels very solid and well-protected. I haven't dropped it, yet, but I dropped my S6 and S7 multiple times from varying heights under 4 feet, and they always survived. I dropped them on grass, carpet, concrete, my face, gravel, wood, tile, some sort of metal flooring, and never did they crack or break. Given the Pixel 3 XL is a little larger and heavier, I could see this case protecting it from most falls on its side or faces, but would be cautious about dropping it on one of its corners. However, I'm more confident about it surviving with this case than the thinner, single-layer cases I looked into.As for wireless charging, I don't have a wireless charger, so I cannot speak for it.SCREEN PROTECTOR COMPATIBILITYGiven 1) how stiff the inner case is with little to no gap between the case and the phone, and 2) a lot of glass screen protectors may be larger than the visible portion of the front part of the phone with the inner case on, I don't believe the inner case would securely snap shut with a glass screen protector on. If you are looking for something to protect your phone from scratches that works with this case, and are willing to forego a glass screen protector for a plastic film cover, I am currently using this one from IQ Shield: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FP19CBW/. I've attached photos that show the fitment. The screen protector should fit just within the area of the inner screen protector (I positioned mine a bit low, so it is covered a millimeter or so by the bottom of the inner case). The feeling isn't quite as nice as tempered glass, but it works with this case, and will help protect my screen from earring scratches and other rough objects rubbing against it.SUMMARYPros:- Feels very durable and secure- Rubbery outer case makes it easy to grip- Has a little cover to protect the USB-C port at the bottom from debris- Previous experience with OtterBox Defender cases leads me to believe my Pixel 3 XL will survive most falls while the case is on- Comes in a cool blue color- Comes with a belt clip, if you need thatCons:- Pricey, but I feel it's worth it for protecting a $700+ investment over the next 2 years- Lack of built-in screen protector that was a feature of previous OtterBox Defender cases- Case makes phone thicker and longer, which can pose a challenge for those with small pocketsUnknowns:- Potential lack of compatibility with glass screen protectors (I didn't try it with a glass one, but given the design of the inner case, I can only surmise that it would be incompatible. It would be best to do some research on your potential screen protector before considering this combination)- Case may be too thick for wireless charging. I do not have a wireless charger to test this out with. For me, the pros outweigh the cons. I am happy with this case, and it fits my needs, which is why I give it a 5-star rating.

Not impressed
Not impressed at all. This is not the first OtterBox I've owned. I've had several over the part years. This one seems to be much poorer quality than the ones I've had before. The side buttons do not line up at all. And the lower bottom hard plastic cover has already cracked and broken after just a few days.

I expected better
I ordered this case for my boyfriend because he had been wanting an Otterbox that wasn't all black. This is his favorite color combination, so I figured I would grab it for him for his birthday. I was really disappointed, as was he, because the case did not work with his screen protector at all. It wouldn't fit right without lifting the screen protector. It also did not allow him to charge wirelessly on his Pixel Stand. So it was really unfortunate that he either had to remove the case to charge it wirelessly or use the charging cable. The Pixel Stand isn't cheap and I expected this case to be compatible with it and it wasn't. Spent a good amount of money on both the stand and the case and wasn't able to use them together.

Takes some time to assemble.
This is a work of engineering to be sure. There are two (three with the clip on phone carrier) parts to this case. The soft rubber litter layer and the hard foam-lined inner layer. You first have to separate these two layers before you can insert your phone. The hard cream colored layer comes apart along the perimeter of the case. This case can't be used without the rubber outter layer because the buttons on the phone can't be accessed without it. It's fairly easy to snap into place and appears to secure your phone. However, the photo is slightly misleading because it does not have bumper corners as I thought. That is the clip on you can use with this phone case.I would purchase this again but I know now what it is and it didn't fully meet my expectations (I wanted bumper corners not a clip on) I do think it will do the job intended and that's the important part.

Stylish and full protection
I purchased this a great sale price and it is perfect, stylish and all the protection you can ask for . I never go with out purchasing Otter Box case for new phones. When you think about the price of a new phone and the cost to replace it when it breaks from a fall, then you see the value of this case.It fits perfect and feels great in your hand, with out adding bulk.I have purchased less expensive cases only to be disappointed in them .

You're Paying for the Gold Standard of Cases
It was a little tricky figuring out how to place my phone in the case. However, you can find instructions online.Once you learn it's still a little challenging placing your phone in the case. The plastic clips you have to unhinge I'm afraid might break if you are constantly taking your phone in and out.Other than that it's a durable and sturdy case. My only annoyance is that using the belt clip you can't access the fingerprint reader, which I have to use constantly.

Should've Had a Screen Protector
The case is rugged enough, but I was very disappointed that Otterbox sells only a "screenless" phone protector. I bought several of their products over the last 7 years, so I trusted that they had some good reason to design this case without some sort of screen protection. There is no such reason, and now I just have to clean my screen of smudges every day. Omitting a screen protector of some kind is such a bad engineering and design decision that I think it must have originated as an executive's mistake. I won't trust them again.

I really wanted an enclosed front and back case
But they do not make one for the google pixel 3 xl.Noone does. This is a REALLY nice case and I really like the clip, though I don't see it as practical in some settings like concerts and live events where you will be bumping into alot of people. The only bad thing is that it has zero screen protection and fitting a typical screen protector in it they will just break if you have to take the case off for any reason.

Its heavy
It's a very durable case and you definitely feel like your phone is protected however it adds a lot of weight to your phone. I found myself getting hand cramps from holding my phone and I would never use the belt clip feature so it's kind of a waste to pay for this expensive case unless you are into using all the features. Also you can't use any tempered glass screen protectors with this case as the case overlaps the phone too much creating air bubbles under the screen protector. A film protector would be your best bet if you want to use this case. The colour of the case was really nice and accurate to the pictures but ultimately because of the weight the case adds to the phone I ended up returning it.

Can't use glass screen protector - otherwise fantastic
This phone case is fantastic. It protects my phone from it's occasional encounter with gravity. It has a grippy back, and the buttons work well with it. it is a wee bit larger than I expected, but that's okay. My only issue is that I can't put a glass screen protector on it without bubbling. This is because the case is designed to be so very very close to the phone, which means no dust or grim in the back, but also no screen protector. Haven't had any issues this far, especially because the case does jut forward 3-4mm to protect the front.

Worth the extra $, takes a beating
I've had this on my phone for about 4 months. This case takes a beating and after over 20 drops my phone is still in mint condition.Don't waste your money on a cheaper pretty case like I did the first go around. OtterBox or lifeproof are the only brands of cell cases I trust now.

Good and Solid but...
Very nice and solid case, however need to consider the gap between the phone and the wireless charger. May hinder the charging efficiency (take longer time to charge).
