Love it!
I had this installed on the 1st floor of my two story brick house built in 1950 on 12 December 2013 with a 100 Gallon Propane tank. The house has no attic insulation and no insulation in the walls, the windows are single pane (with storm windows) and very very drafty. The basement ceiling is the only portion of my house insulated. The fireplace itself was easy to setup, I bought the optional blower the "World Marketing Of America Inc Qed100 "pro Com" Thermostat Blower For Dual Fuel Q-series Fireplace" and it took me about an hour to get everything installed and the fireplace set where I wanted it to be.The fireplace itself is pretty lite and was pretty easy to move around and it's a pretty nice looking unit. After a month of running this unit I will have burned thru an entire 100 Gallon tank of propane. Partly due to my inexperience with this unit I ran it on then #3 setting for the first 3 days. It never shut down and I finally turned it down once the house hit 80 degrees, so we used a lot of propane the first few days. Once I got it set somewhere in the middle between 2 and 3, the house stays pretty consistently at 73-75 degrees. We live in NE Pennsylvania and the past few days have been bone chilling. Over this past weekend we had temps down to -12 degrees and this fireplace kept my 1st floor at 70 degrees. We had to supplement heat in the downstairs bedrooms but I was still surprised at how well this kept the house warm.On the setting I run it on I use approx 3.5 gallons of propane a day and my fuel oil furnace has not kicked on once to heat my downstairs. With our Fuel Oil Furnace set at 70 degrees you would always feel cold in his house, not since we installed this baby, WE LOVE IT!Here are some pro's and con's.Pro's:1. This thing can put out some heat. I've been running this on the #3 setting and below and it keeps my first floor (1400 sq ft) a cozy 70-75 degrees.2. Propane is cheap $1.99 a gallon for me.3. It has a built-in thermostat so it will turn on and off as needed.4. No propane smell as with other units. (you may smell a tiny amount when the unit kicks on and off)5. Has a battery powered starter. I used it once when we installed it, haven't had to use it since.6. The blower really puts the heat around the house. It will kick on a few minutes after the fireplace fires up and it will run a few minutes after the fireplace shuts down. I can feel the difference when it runs from my couch which is about 20 ft away.Con's:1. The blower after 3 weeks is starting to make the occassional vibrating noise. Not a con against the Fireplace.2. The fireplace would not fire on setting 1. Even with the house at 64 degrees, it wouldn't come on. On setting 3 it never got hot enough to shut off even when the house hit 80 degrees. We still use the furnace to heat the upstairs and I have used half a tank so far this year, we would be on our 2nd tank by now. To heat our house our furnace would use 3.5 Gallons of fuel oil a day at $3.54 a gallon or $12.39 a day to heat the house and be cold doing it, now it uses maybe a gallon and we use 3.5 gallons of propane for a total of about $10 a day to heat our house and now we're actually warm.We love this fireplace! Cheap heat and now we don't have to worry about losing power. I may buy another one for my upstairs.Edit: I forgot to mention that on the -12 days that I supplemented heat in the back bedroom because I went through more propane than anticipated the first few days so I supplemented the heater to avoid depleting my tank prior to my next delivery. I'm sure if I turned the heater all the way up to the #5 setting it would have more been able to handle the cold by itself.

Nice space heater
Decided to get this space heater for when the power goes out as the main reason. We had been using a kerosene space heater and they have went to obscene prices on kerosene as of late, so to cut the trouble, mess and gouging for fuel I went with this stove for it's dual fuel as I use natural gas. The stove was well packaged and intact when it arrived. I ordered the optional blower unit also. I found one of the sheet metal holes stripped. When trying to put in the screws into new mounting holes I found it a bit difficult to get them to thread so I took a pointed sheet metal screw the same size and started the new hole then used the screws they furnished. This is sheet metal so don't think you need to tighten them too much or you'll strip the metal out. The directions for putting the blower in are fair, not the best but if you use a little bit of common sense you can do it. The hardest thing installing the blower is feeding the wireing harness down the back of the stove to the bottom. You have to take the control panel off the front and snake your hand back and feel for the wires if you shoved them down far enough that is. The wiring is pretty straight forward and they are all faston type connectors. The directions are a bit iffy on telling you where to place the logs in the stove, they have several different slots so you have tofigure out which set to use on your own. The stove lights nicely and the thermostat seems to work good, it cycles as it shoud. The only draw back to the use of the blower is it operates off of a separate thermostat than the gas valve to the burner. So you end up with the fan running a bit longer than the stove chamber stays hot. This can create a cool draft at times after the flames are cut off. I would buy the stove again, it keeps our living, dining and kitchen area warm and the bedrooms comfortable. The central heat never cut on this evening, the temp outside is 35 and it was 68 to 70 inside with a mid setting on the stoves control. I bought the stove from Amazon but it came through Northern Tools, the price was the best that I found on this stove. I saw the same stove at a local Farm Ranch store locally for over a hundred dollars higher. The value was much better from NT's and Amazon. The stove is nice looking it has a cast iron look but it is steel with a nice black satin finish. The flames you see in the pictures are with the stove turned all the way up. From a one to five control setting we only needed a 3 this evening in this 1500 square ft home. We surely will be much more comfortable especially when the next ice and snow storm knocks our power out again due to the stove will operate without electricity. Looks good, first use of stove has been a good experience and the value I feel was good.
