100 Solos: for Flute Paperback – January 1, 1992

I purchased this book for my daughter who just completed her first year of flute in school. I was hoping to help he keep her interest through the summer with fresh material. I learned that although she is very good for her level, most of the book was a little intimidating, but she readily picked out a few she wanted to learn. Secondly, she has started a second instrument, the electric guitar this summer. She is practising her flute with the school practice book. Maybe she will use this book later.

This book provides 100 solos which sounds cool with the flute. I felt that the notation level increases through the book. This means, the book starts with easy solos, and they get harder as you advance.Most of the solos aren't longer than 1-2 pages.If you are looking for nice and short solos for the flute, this book would be a good choice. If you are looking for a book to teach you how to play the flute, you may consider other alternatives.

Nice selection of songs. Most are only 1 page long. I haven't played the flute in almost 50 years so I was looking for songs that I would know and enjoy playing. This book met that requirement. The music is good for a beginner with a few years experience. I was disappointed in the quality of the music score. The printing however is not the best. Some of the staff lines are inconsistent in width and thickness and a few of the notes are smudged. The print is legible, just not the best.

This is another set of good songs for intermediate flute. They will broaden the experience of a beginning flute player. As for giving you music to perform they may not be the best. The binding does not lay flat on a music stand. But you can make copies of the songs you want to perform. There is no piano accompaniment so you either play with no backup or find a good pianist who can fake an accompaniment. Many of these songs are very nice.

This is good if you're looking for something different. Lots of songs from the same thing (Oliver, Beatles, Elvis), but also a smattering of other ones. Even though there are a lot of the same faces, there are still a lot. It's going to take you a while to work your way through them anyway, and for the amount of songs there, it is a good deal. Good songs, too, just in case you're worried (i.e. no Mexican Hat Dance).

This book has changed my instrument practice and has added a fun element to learning the flute. It has a variety of familiar songs for beginners-intermediate expertise and has been a lot of fun to use!

I'm starting on the flute and this book has helped me in learning. They are fun songs and written in a simple level, I mean the scale on which it is written. I also like the popular repertoire that complements my study of classics. I recommend it for beginners.

I am an average flutist, and decided I needed more than one book to work with. Upon buying this, I was happy with the easier songs, and glad for the harder songs that will push me to challenge myself more. It has many familiar and catchy songs that will definitely keep you busy, if you too decide to buy it.
