Nice wistle!
This is a nice whistle! Simple, inexpensive, pleasant tone. As far as the "mellow" goes, it's a whistle, so it is still loud, but less so than others. It is equal to a wood recorder in volume by my ears.I'm sure my neighbours love to hear "Concerning Hobbits" every morning at 6AM! Hey, if they are up late partying the night before, well, this is your solution!

This Irish Whistle is a great value for the money.
A great Irish Whistle that sells for a very low price. It sounds pretty good, too.

Great sound!
Great sound - both octaves. So good I bought a 2nd one.

Strong lower octave, squeaky higher octave
This whistle has a strong lower octave and nice, resonant bell note (which is why I originally got it.) As a straight bore, it requires more air, so might be a little more challenging for beginners. The higher octaves are also harder to hit and squeak. It's a nice whistle for airs, not so much for jigs. One issue with these whistles, though, seems to be that the bell note (low D) is pretty sharp. You can tune it lower but adjusting the mouthpiece (soak a little in hot water to loosen the glue and pull out slightly), but then the rest of the notes are a bit flat. My final "hack" to tune the bell note was to put a little electrical tape at the bottom to lengthen the bore. It's a $12 whistle, and having notes somewhat out of tune and occasionally squeak is part of the charm I suppose. There's also a bit of variation within these cheaper whistles, so maybe I got one that was more out of tune than usual. And that's ok. I still like using this whistle for slow airs as the lower octave is very nice (once I adjusted the bell note.)

Good instrument, great times
Great little tin whistle to learn on. I was surprised at how good it sounded and still sounds. I would have no qualms about recommending this little whistle to anyone that was interested in learning to play.

Always flat
Easy to use, but expect the coating to come off after a few hours of use and I was never able to get the whistle to sound less flat on the higher notes. Went with a different product and found what worked for me instead

A Classic Whistle
Although costing more than a "Penny" these days, it's still a terribly inexpensive, yet decent quality instrument to play.

It's a grand little whistle for the price
The Walton's Mellow D whistle arrived sooner than I expected and in perfect condition. Although I had played some woodwinds (clarinet, alto sax) I had never played a whistle and after a few minutes of struggling, I got the hang of it. Within an hour I was playing in both registers. Intonation sounded fine. The whistle was made of a seamless brass tube (unlike the tin whistles, incidentally, which are made of tinned sheet metal soldered together). The plastic fipple looks and feels durable. The tone sounded more or less what I thought it would sound like and, to my ears, is fine. I particularly like the upper register. The whistle was shipped in a mailing tube so there's your case; it's easy to download a fingering chart off the web if you feel the need but, really, you just put six fingers on the holes and take them off one by one. Repeat for the upper register by blowing a might harder. In all, ten bucks, a neat little whistle.I'm pleased.

Easy to play, nice mellow tone
I have been playing tin whistle for several years, starting on a Feadog and later adding Clarke Original and Sweetone tin whistles to my collection. Now that I have a Walton, I wish I had gotten it a long time ago because it's simply a better instrument in my opinion. It does not have a seam on the back and does not have a tapered bore like a Clarke, so the low notes are easy to play as clearly as the high notes. It is a bit wider than a Feadog, giving it a more resonate, less shrill tone, which makes it sound much better in the upper octave. I can't compare it to every tin whistle ever made, but it may be the best one in its very affordable price range.
