There are similar grips that cost less. Enough to purchase extra batteries to put inside but I was swayed by all of the other reviewers in that it was still a very fair price, considering the OEM Canon grip, but they all seem to agree that it always worked; no problems with the connections within (for both trays) or the controls on the outside.It fits well, has a thoughtful space to store the camera's battery door, and the controls/connections worked well from the get go.The Vello grip provides peace-of-mind. Who wants to run into a problem when you're out on a shoot and one that's probably lengthy or far away from an electrical outlet? That's why you got the grip, right? If you just want to look cool with a big battery grip attached, buy a cheaper one.I'll come back after a month or two with a follow up. Best, E

A year ago I purchased the official Canon BG-E8 battery grip for my T4i.Last week I purchased the Vellow BG-C5.2 grip for my spare T3i camera. I have big hands and it just gives the camera a nicer heft. I don't understand people wanting little dinky cameras.VERY pleased with the Vello grip and I paid 2.5X as much for the Canon grip and I defy you to find any difference between the two other than one small thing. The Vello grip came with a nice drawstring pouch to contain the 6 AA battery tray and the Canon did NOT! It was large enough that it now contains BOTH AA battery trays for both my grips. Terrific idea; thanks Vello!Looks the same, works the same, feels the same and costs a LOT less. I am happy -- you can be too if you order this product.

I originally gave this a 3 Star. However, after watching another review, the review described an issue I will repost here. The rechargeable batteries (2A style) need to be same voltage and helps to be same maker. By voltage you can see on the side of the battery what the voltage is 1.2v, 1.3v, 1.5v etc. Other wise this grip is entirely fantastic.Another bonus is the second battery insert holds the square styled battery that comes with the camera. I tested and it will work with a single battery even though it can hold two batteries. This is a great product.

I had a similar item on my Canon but it didn't last. I looked at this one and one thing that stood out to me was the texture and color matches the OEM. That review was on point! Texture and color is identical to my Canon! Matches perfectly and looks like it is all one piece. Functions very well and is well constructed. Solid camera attachment I highly recommend!

Just received my grip for my T4i today. I was hesitant to buy non-OEM equipment, but now I don't understand why anyone would pay for the Canon BG-E8 grip over this. Color and rubber is identical to the camera body, and it has all the functionality you could possibly need. The grip makes the camera almost look like an EOS 1D so it doesn't look awkward. Overall, fantastic purchase. Couldn't be more happy.

After doing some research on an alternative to the official (and wildly priced) Canon battery grip, I choose this one. It was recommend in several camera forums and it is priced accordingly to the role is serves. It is well made and the fit is spot on. The color matches perfectly to the T4i as well as the 'grain' areas. It adds enough bulk for my big mitts to grab onto and feels as solid as it looks. No disappointments here. Quality product at a great price.

This item is the official Vello and not a knock off grip. The grip is solid and welcomed by a large handed person such as my self the trays to hold the batteries are solid. * One tip is to angle the the batter connection end down and in first then slide the back down to avoid damage to the device and to make inserting smooth. The shoe foot also is nice and the threads are clean and straight. I look forward to purchasing these for all my cameras.
