Todd McFarlane's Spawn: The Ultimate Collection

Just to specify: I read people saying the show and animation is ''dated''. I don't know what these people are smoking: this still holds up and has some of the best animation I've EVER seen. A solid series that does the character justice.

Absolutely great series in all terms,better than the movie(thats so obvious) and much more better than the comic book itself..These boys have made an excellent work and turned this into a masterpiece.When you watch it,you get so engrossed that you forget that this is animation,you think its a real movie..and even better than many hero movies..Dark,haunting,violent,like our hero,it is what we all want for..Finally i was amazed by the sound editing and audio production.I dont know how they made it so crystal clear and so natural..This is the ultimate Spawn heritage..Get this,and you wont need anything else concerning Spawn..!!!

The graphics were outstanding in this and the story was very good. (I don't expect less from McFarlain) The relationships and basis of the story were very acurate to the comic. The story line was a little off from the comic. It was a very enjoyable movie. I enjoyed the Gothic atmosphere and the narrative like it was done in the comic. I could definately tell McFarlain had his paws in this one. The graphics were not for kids. It was violent and gore filled. You may not want the younger ones seeing it. All in all a very good adult oriented cartoon. Comic book come to life, so to speak.

Basically the quality of this set is okay. Disc 2 sounds horrible. What did they do to mix it? You can hardly hearSpawn when playing through a 5.1 system. You have to turn it up and then down etc. Also, why aren't all the discs mixed in 5.1? Maybe that's a good thing because at least when it is in 2.0 you can hear what Spawn is saying. Because it is a great show that deserves five stars, I won't give my review less than three stars. But come on, give me the quality this series deserves. At least I could hear on the video tapes(which I sadly gave away because the DVD set was on it's way.

Love the series. The up-scaling is weird. Some scenes have Spawn coming out of the shadows, and it's black fuzz all over the screen except for a circle around his face. Of course it is a little gritty, but it's still good and adds a little bit to the atmosphere, I think.

saw this on tv and loved it, so when the chance came up to add it to the home collection...had to have it.

The Spawn DVD collection is a great item to watch and own. The story is done is a very realistic and articulate manner. It provides action, suspense, and keeps you hooked from the first time you watch it. While this series is definitly not intended for young children, it should also not be viewed by those that have a weak and ignorant mind. To fully appreciate this set you should be open-minded and enjoy every DVD for what it's worth-which is to say a masterpiece of animation and voice acting. This set is one that can be watched over and over again with the same excitement as watching it for the first time. If you are a fan of dark action comics like Spawn or Batman, then this is a must have collection. If you are into action then you should perhaps only buy one season at first-just to see if you like it. However, I believe that you will not be dissappointed. One of the best things about the Spawn collection is that it ends how all forms of entertainment should end-it leaves you wanting so much more.

Great. McFarlane genious- you can watch it continuously with no breaks. Like one really long story with the best, most conflicted and dark superhero of them all. SPAWN!

Ce DVD contient les 3 saisons de la série animée de Spawn parues à ce jour. Je ne m'étendrai pas en commentaires, mais sachez que ca n'a rien à voir avec le film, mais plutot avec le comic, donc de très bonne facture. Cependant, la troisième saison, pas très judicieusement intitulée "the final battle", ne termine pas la série, mais laisse une ouverture à une 4e saison (voir plus). Le problème est que la série proprement dite date de plus de 5ans, je doute donc de la parution prochaine de la suite, d'où FRUSTRATION! Cependant, ca vaut le coup quand même (quitte à compléter avec les comics)
