Nutritional basics for getting lean
This book is less about the recipes and more about nutritional basics for those who want to get lose fat and gain muscle. It works for both men and women, and it's solid information that if followed along with a good exercise plan, will produce the desired results. There are other books by this author and the end of the book is a teaser for one of them. Other books written by this author are promoted at the start of this book, and much of the content is selling other books. I wasn't fond of that part, but it was expected. The 15 recipes in the book are good in the sense that they are tasty, have a nutritional breakdown included and aren't difficult to make. I wish there were photos included with the recipes. To me, that's a glaring omission, especially with the color photos for other books being so prominently placed in this one.The information is good and for some, it will leave them wanting more, which was undoubtedly the idea for writing this one.If you're unable to find the information you seek about healthy eating and associated recipes for free online, this book may be one you may want to pick up. To me, it's all readily available information at Bodybuilding (website online) and not worth a purchase here.

Interesting reading for women too
I started to read this book with my partner in mind. It requires organisation to cook for a male carnivore needing to gain.weight and a female vegetarian wanting to lose around 24 pounds. The easy ratio of carbohydrate and protein given, also the amount of water to drink has been a revelation. We know that you can.lead a horse to water but not make him.drink. my "horse" will not drink.water and so it is important to recognise efforts but not to create misery in.the household. Many of the recipes are easy and lend themselves to the mix and match I have practiced for years. I do two pots side by side and they are identical except one is for meat, and eggs and other is the vegetarian /vegan equivalent. The only gripes I would make are there are no.suggestions as to.how to.use all those egg yolks. My egg allergy means I am ignorant about egg cookery. Also, how to cater for my partner's sweet tooth? I use the purest brown sugar in the smallest amounts I can get away with and often half that by adding raisins instead. I also make muffins, cakes and sweet items with a few spoons of olive oil which is great for quick cooks and so.much healthier than most recommended fats.I.shall be looking at the recommended range of books as they are a quick and easy read and they are just packed with snippets of information. I am more comfortable with a realistic and down-to-earth approach.

Basic, Comprehensive, Muscle Nutrition Book
Perhaps because I have read similar information before and seen so many similar recipes elsewhere, I wasn't overly thrilled with this book. Tom Venuto's definitive e-book 'Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle' is very comprehensive and nails the science of muscle building, especially the all-important nutrition aspect, totally for the body builder.Still, this is a great place to start. I read this book in less than an hour, and it has all the essentials for muscle building, fat burning, and calorie counting information you need to get started.Beginning with the premise that muscle food can be nailed but not entirely enjoyed if it is used for fuel and rebuilding, he endears us to a common fact about many bodybuilders: Keeping food interesting is also important in life, and there are easy ways to have a healthy, muscle diet and still enjoy what we are eating. The author's style is fluid, fact-filled, and dense, filled with the building blocks of body building meals. Now you can nitpick and say that nutrition is a science and you have to tweak this diet in many ways to really be effective*, but he does offer his full version at the end of this book, and for the price, you couldn't really ask for more.In the end he does a yeoman job of bringing the nutrition scope of bodybuilding in a small, friendly, and accessible amount of print space.*Venuto elaborates how you have to tailor-make a diet and exercise regimine based on age, sex, weight, and somatyping.

Not for me
Downloaded because I need more muscle but saying you need 1 gram of protein for each pound you weigh us nonsense, you go Dr y can only use so I much protein and rest is converted to fat. Like I said book not for Mr me a 119 lb female dies not need 119 grams of protein as I am not a weight lifter. Another thing I disagree with us eating every 3-4 hours. I fast overnights 14-16 hours , eat a big breakfast and taper off eating. I lost 110 lbs 10 years ago and have kept it off. May be a good book for younger men that work out a lot. Recipes nothing new

A great book for learning to maximize your work out and gain muscle mass!
This is a great book that helps to teach you the best foods to eat to maximize the effects of your work out. The author goes into detail explaining the difference between the three types of fat and which is actually good for you. He also distinguishes between good carbs and bad carbs and makes it simple to eat specific types of food that will promote muscle mass and healing of muscles after work outs. The included recipes aren't terribly complicated to make or comprised of hard to find ingredients. All in all this book is specifically written with those in mind who are working out to gain muscle mass. Another good book to help increase your body's health through diet isΒ 101 Alkaline Foods to Alkalize Your Body's pH, Boost Your Health & Lose Fat Naturally .

Good For Beginners
This is a very good book for those starting a fitness and weight loss program. It gives solid, basic information about how to eat correctly, including exactly how much protein, fats, and carbs you need to take in each day and what types of foods you should be eating and what you should avoid. If you've been to fitness for any length of time, though this is all stuff you probably already know. So, if you're new to all of this, I would recommend the book. It will give you the basic knowledge you need to get started eating right in a very easy to understand fashion. I haven't actually tried any of the recipes, but they sound good, too.

I liked the 15 recipes and shall be keeping this book on my kindle!
Short book, lots of science and stuff beforehand telling me how to build up muscles. I don't need to build muscles, only tighten them up!! However I was interested in the 15 recipes and it was nice to see that they didn't need too many strange ingredients, and I have cooked a few of them and they are quite nice!! I shall be keeping this book on my kindle!

Great set of recipes to help keep the monotony out of dieting.
There are several things I love about this book:-1) It doesn't rely on weird ingredients - all of the recipes use ingredients which are present in most kitchens. So you can crack on pretty much straight away and don't end up with packets of stuff you bought for one recipe weeks ago.2) The dishes all taste great! I've had the book 2 months now and have made numerous meals from the recipes and I am yet to be disappointed. This mornings example was French Muscle Toast!3) Mike is available to answer any queries - and it's not an empty promise. I've asked two seperate questions and both were answered within 24 hours.4) Each dish has it macro's broken down so you can easily work out where it fits into your targets.Overall, it's well laid out, simple to follow (even for a relative novice in the kitchen) and produces great meals that even your other half won't mind sharing. The only thing I could suggest to enhance the book would be to include pictures along with each dish. This would help novices like myself to ensure what is produced is exactly as Mike had intended! That aside, the book is excellent and superb value.

Brilliant book
I got this as a free kindle book, as my husband is going to Everest base camp in a few months and I wanted to find some nice recipies for him - this helped explain about nutrition and provided easy recipies that I can make quickly - perfect! It aslo didnt feature american-only products which i find in most cookbooks (so even better!!) After reading I immediately ordered the larger cookbook so I have a bit more variety when cooking, but I am really pleased. Also most of the recipies are under the 400 calorie mark so can be used by those following the 400 calaorie diet too. I can happily recommend this book to everyone!
