Blade earns 5 stars.
The blade would earn 5 stars. It's milspec in thickness, and it's sharpened in all the right places. Length pretty much matches the original M9, as opposed to the current issue, which is slightly shorter. Definitely above average for a commercial copy. The ring that goes over the flash suppressor is a close fit on some rifles, and it's actually a bit too small for some others. Seems to be a matter of tolerance stacking. You might get lucky, or you might need to enlarge the opening slightly. The handle and locking mechanism are well-made, but what's underneath isn't as robust as the military version. This shouldn't be an issue as long as the knife isn't used as a pry-bar, but I'm dinging a star because of this. The handle can easily be removed by a single hex screw, and I'd suggest applying protective lubricant to the steel parts inside. This literally is a 3-minute task, and well worth it. The metal parts inside are completely dry on arrival. The scabbard is a nice reproduction of the first military version from the late 80s/early 90s, and it includes the pouch for a 9mm pistol magazine. However, I don't think I'd trust the wire cutter for anything but very light duty, if that. Even the milspec knives sometimes fracture the lug when cutting heavy wire, and I'm guessing that this one is no better, and possibly not as good. You're really buying a decent knife, not a wire cutting tool.Bottom line: I give this a solid 4 stars, due to the blade and low price. It's an excellent value overall.

waiting to try the wire cutters
this knife was wayyyy more than i expected for the price. It was just to be for show on a Mossberg 500 build but the thing can actually be used. Its think, so far sturdy but just waiting to try the wire cutters. (then again, ive never seen the best wire cutters from knives like this). Talking about a chain link fence? oh yea, no way it wont cut through. Its definately a fantastic bang for buck. i mean, really. I would recommend. It comes sharp and appears extremely durable. has all bells and whistles.

THAT'S A KNIFE!
Freaking solid knife! The hole in the gaurd is just ONE R.C.H. too tight to fit over an A2 birdcage flash hider... (probably just the thickness of the powder coat) so I'll take a dremel to that. But otherwise it's as close to perfection as you'll find at any price.
