Best pruners I have owned -- see end of my review for tips on cleaning
Growing roses are my thing and these pruners are the best I've found. I have about 40 roses in my garden and, owing to the long growing season in Central Texas, pruning is a regular chore -- the only thing I do more frequently is mow the lawn! I used to just buy a new pair of pruners every year or two from Lowe's to get me by. But I noticed how high the attrition rate became: some cheap pruners would break (especially if they have a fancy open/close mechanism, or cheap springs), others would get dull and stay dull, others just simply felt uncomfortable in the hand, and some were the wrong size or design. I finally decided to invest in a good pair of pruners that would last more than one season and these were it! I know there are more expensive ones out there, but, in my opinion, having tried the "best," I think Corona offers the best bang for the buck of any pruner on the market. The pruners are constructed of forged steel throughout, so that the handle actually extends directly from the blade in one piece of steel. The two "halves" (if you will) are connected by a very stout screw and the spring mechanism is very durable and reliable. The red rubber coating on the handles is very nice and holds up really well. Best of all, unlike many fancy pruners found at Home Depot, the blades are very easy to sharpen and seem to hold an edge much better than the competition. I had high ideas of sharpening this thing monthly, but it never happens. Truth is, it doesn't really matter! With my 40-some rose bushes, I made it through a whole season without sharpening and they still slice through rose canes with an effortless and perfectly clean cut. Overall these pruners are very comfortable and have a natural feel in the hand. The springs work reliably but are neither too strong nor too weak.Like all pruners, they require a bit of basic maintenance beyond sharpening. Oil regularly. I use Wahl clipper oil and have found it very good. You will also notice they get gummed up from plant matter and sappy substance. This is super hard to clean off with soap and water. Rubbing them down with alcohol is great to prevent the spread of disease, but does very little to prevent gummy buildup. I do two things. First, soak the blades i a bowl of vinegar. The acid will help loosen up the gunk without damaging the pruners. Secondly, clean with Fast Orange or a similar pumice-based cleaner. Pumice is the gritty, sandy stuff in the soap that really scrubs off the gunk. Fast Orange also contains copious amounts of citric acid to help clean thoroughly without the use of petro-chemicals. This gets the bulk of the gunk off and will leave your blades shiny clean!Overall I highly recommend these pruners and will return to buy more for many years. I'm very pleased with my purchase and always recommend these to my neighbors when they come to me to get advice from the "rose guy."

They get the job done.
These work ok. They take quite a bit of effort for larger branches; I'm a senior citizen and don't have the grip strength that I used to lol. Anyway, the product itself is constructed very well and is comfortable to use. I've used them quite a few times and other than my own lack of strength issue, I have not had any problems using them; I just grab my loppers when I need to cut larger branches :-)

Best pruning shears owned
A bit expensive but probably the best pruning shears I've owned. Bought a new one because the old one is a bit rusted due to being outside with the elements but still works well and cuts fine. This one cuts biggest branches and cleanest.

Great quality, comfortable, sharp
Corona quality. These were a replacement for a pair I had for 30 years that my grandson accidentally lost while working in the yard. Probably tossed in the green bin. I love them, but I miss my old ones. The 1/2 size truly fits my needs perfectly and there is not a store in my area that carries them so I was happy to get them.
