Great for monitoring my reef tanks remotely!
This has been working great as a safe guard against malfunctioning aquarium heaters. I learned my lesson years ago after losing tons of precious livestock when a heater never turned off and cooked the tank. Although this doesn't control power to the heater (I have other devices for that purpose), it is essential because it emails and texts me if the temperature goes too high or low based on your settings. I do pay for the subscription-based monitoring and I think it's worth it, but it is a bit expensive. Considering the value of my livestock, it's well worth the cost in my opinion. I've been using these devices on 5 reef tanks for a few years and have been very happy with them. I've gotten advanced alerts prior to any disasters when heaters have failed or were set too high. The only negative is that the probe readings can be a few degrees off based on several independent measurements, but this seems to be stable. In other words, it's not that accurate, but it is precise. To me, precision is more important so I'm aware of real changes in temperature regardless of the absolute value of the reading.

Quite Useful devices!
I bought a controller and two sensors for a lab with a -30°C freezer and a Fridge. I did not wish expensive reagents to be compromised (e.g. during a power failure, of if a door were left opened...network communications are on UPS-power).These are very useful, especially when setting up an account to receive alerts. I receive text alerts when temperatures are outside of MY given tolerances. I can also see how the appliance is working, it's cycle time, and how "tight" its temperature control is.Two screen shots of their software, running on an Android phone are shown below. Blue is humidity (high in the northeast USA), red is room temperature, and green is the fridge temp, in Celsius. Note the lab-fridge (Pic1-left, Pic2-top) deviates +/- 1C throughout the day. A table-top beverage fridge (to be used instead of an ice bucket) deviates by +/- 5°C, or ~ 9°F throughout the day. LaCross software has tables (one can export data) and a weekly view.Other vendors have approached with solutions costing hundreds of times more. This is simple and effective. One suggestion, they should add additional sensors for -80°C freezers. The current sensors are only operational to -40°C (also -40°F).I have since added 3 more sensors for other lab-devices, and my kitchen fridge. The former were needed, the latter is a luxury. In general, tolerances in lab-refrigerators is lower than in those marketed for consumer use.

Good product, challenging to set up
We have a second house that we do not visit as often in the winter and need to monitor the temperature in the basement. We have used Lacrosse for about seven years for the monitoring and have been very pleased with the service. I think the first year was free and after that, there is a minimal monthly charge to continue remote service. I bought this to replace the same sensor I had for at least six years (such replacement is to be expected). The old and new sensors work(ed) well. Occasionally the sensor doesn't transmit for an hour or so, but this is only occasional, so I have no problem with that. I received plenty of notice when the battery is low, which is very important. The reason I dinged the product is due to installation. I had the same problem with the original sensor. I simply could not get it to work, despite their instructions and YouTube on how to install. I called their help line (only open during the week, 9 to 5). As you might expect, I had to wait about 45 minutes to get through. I have grown used to this in today's world, so I have resigned myself to putting the phone on speaker and doing other stuff. The tech support is excellent once you get through. They spotted the problem and work ting together we resolved the issue in about ten minutes. They were pleasant and easy to work with.

My third sensor... GREAT!
I love the Lacrosse sensors. I have one for my dump pump in the basement, one for my freezer in the garage (this one) and one that I will install in the laundry room. This week. They work great and are very easy to install, configure alerts, etc.I know some people expressed concern over the fact that you need internet access... here’s my rationale. The most likely reason to loose internet is power loss... if I loose power (or just internet) I get an alert that the sensor / gateway can’t be reached... this prompts me to check my basement and my garage freezer. These alerts are mean to tell you there’s risk of problems, and prompt you to go look at it.The subscription fee is negligible compared to what I’m protecting (basement and freezer full of food!).Tech support is phenomenal (I had to contact them once and they were extremely helpful).Keep up the good work Laccrosse!

Needs better transmitter!
I would love to give this 5 stars but it keeps losing signal with the internet gateway. I use it to monitor the temperature and humidity in my wine cellar which is below the main level of my house about 50 feet from the gateway. It works great MOST of the time but has to be re-paired a couple times a month. This is not good because it is at my mountain home and we are not there for weeks at a time. I use new Duracell batteries and the temperature stays around 60 degrees. I think it needs a stronger transmitter or a better antenna. My weather station occasionally loses contact as well and has to be re-paired but not nearly as often as this unit.

good remote wireless temperature sensor
I got this as a second remote for the wireless Lacrosse device so I could monitor the house temperatures when we were gone for a few weeks in the winter. The alarm feature worked fine, but after our initial winter trip I decided it wasn't worth paying for the subscription since on can easily check the temperature and humidity of both units on line or on my phone, including the graph for the last 24 hours or more. It has worked well through a couple of battery changes for over two years, better than most wireless remote thermometers that I have had in the past. I recommend it as a basic wireless internet thermometer, the remote probe is especially nice.

Great sensor for hot tub
Use this for tracking temperature in my hot tub in the winter. Does a great job and sends me alerts if the temperature drops below a set limit. Allows me to act in case it turns off due to a mechanical fault which in a Canadian winter could do damage to the tub if the water freezes. Great product and easy to set up and manage.

Good Inexpensive system
Rather impressed for the price. Its a standard issue La Crosse branded product, instructions were easy, setup took less than 15 minutes, no issues. Gives you Temp/Humidity AND Probe Temp. Reports are nice, one text and one email notification works well and arrives in a timely manner. can easily adjust highs/lows in the email. I use the wet probe attached to the outside of my Hot Tub heating tube. Works great for the cabin too. Would recommend and buy again. Don't forget you need the hub and a low priced notification subscription will be required after the trial.

Great product
I now own 4 of these and have no issues as some have stated. It does C or F. If the power goes out it sends an alert. Battery low it sends an alert. Custom temp range set for alerts. Connection always good.
