Porter Cable Air Compressor Replacement 3-Port Regulator # CAC-4296-1

Fixed my 30+ year old Craftsman air compressor back to new!

Bought this to replace one on an ancient Craftsman compressor. Worked perfectly.

I have this regulator on a Porter-Cable compressor and liked it so well that I bought another one to replace a unit on another older compressor that I use for airbrushing. It works perfectly. Some regulators, while they allow you to set the airflow at a given pressure, allow the pressure to build in the line when the flow is stopped (trigger of the airbrush is released). When you then press the trigger the initial blast of air is at a higher pressure than what is set for the continuous airflow. Not with this regulator. It maintains that pressure constantly so there is never a build-up when the airbrush is static. Every time you depress the airbrush trigger you get the same airflow that you've set. Don't forget to use the sealant tape when installing it.

It fully replaced the regulator on my very old Sears compressor that was broken. I'm sorry I didn't do this earlier. Would have saved money from buying another compressor.

Port was on the wrong side from the one on my compressor- could not tell from the picture or description, however I was able to modify the cover on compressor so everything worked out. Item performed as it should.

I have a Porter Cable air compressor that stopped working. After using it sparingly for a year, the regulator went bad. After talking to Home Depot and researching on line I discovered that this was a recurring problem for most of these air compressors (6 gallon model number 2002). When I called Porter Cable their "customer service" lady RUDELY informed me that it was no longer under warranty, told me I could call their parts department during their M-F hours. I found this one on Amazon, fairly cheap and I ordered this part, that was promoted as fitting my model. It was delivered and I quickly discovered it was not the same. When I tried to call the vendor for Amazon, I discovered they had no listed phone number. I emailed them to see if they carried the correct part. NO ONE RESPONDED. I sent it back and looked on line to discover that the only supplier was 'backordered' with no predicted date to have more regulators.I am disgusted with Porter Cable (this part was apparently faulty on most if not all of this model air compressor) and disgusted with the Amazon supplier nt having a phone number. I plan to contact Home Depot's customer service organization and inform them of the quality of this product.

Received the part couple days ago, it looks really close to the OEM part compared to the craftsman regulator, and after inspection of the part it appears to be well made. I installed it on the compressor and it works great so far. I’ll give further updates in the future to its function and hopefully those will be the same as my current review.
