Black and Decker BDEMS600 OEM Replacement Platen # 90604245

This is my 2nd okaten which has fallen apart. I think it is a design flaw, maybe? There is a screw, which holds the tip/finger on the platen. This screw screws into a metal part imbedded into the plastic tip of the platen. As I use the finger extention, the plastic breaks down and the screw, along with the metal recepticle, falls out.

I misplaced the screw for the the Mouse tip so had to replace the entire pad to get the screw! Now, I've bought several replacements of the correct size from the local hardware store for future loses! It's easy to drop the tiny screw when switching to the finger sander attachment, so don't do it in a place that the screw could drop through a deck!

I bought this to replace the Mouse sander attachment for my cordless drill after the velcro pad and diamond tip started degrading. Unfortunately, it looks similar but isn't compatible. My fault, of course. I switched out the tip, which IS compatible, and removed the velcro rubber pad, which came off way too easily. The glue holding it on was not strong, and I could see it failing relatively quickly under normal use. Good for me in the end because I was able to remove it in good enough shape to epoxy it onto my old unit, but knocking off 1 star for bad assembly.

Had this unit about 45 days. Piss poor design on the sanding extension. AFTER I bought it, and exchanged it in less than 30 days because the tip vibrates and then wont tighten because the plastic disfigured. My ORIGINAL mouse is 25+ years old and not 1 single problem until one of the 3 mounting legs broke. Replacing it was almost same price as a new one, so I bought a new one- WHAT A MISTAKE. anyway I gave the old one a good redneck fixit job, and mounted the regular base on it for basic sanding, and it STILL works great. Had I knew then what I know now, I'd have epoxied athe base with the fingertip sander and not Screwed around with the new one.

Fit perfectly on my cheap mouse sander. For a few dollars it works like new again. If your sander is worn down on the Velcro - get this.

This seemed great at first. Looks just like the original. It claims to perfectly match my mouse I've had for 6 or so years and used for many refinishing projects. Unfortunately it doesn't really fit correctly, causing the internal plastic control arms to break. Then you're out of luck. This is a lesson I should have learned by now. Dont waste your money on B & D replacement parts or accessories. They are junk. If you like the tool enough and it wore out, just rebuy the tool. Trust be, it will save you unnecessary headaches.

I was worried that maybe I hadn't gotten the right replacement pad for my Detail Sander but once I put it on which was so easy to do; it fit perfectly. I just need to not be so hard on my tools. But I use them for so many things. I hope these stay in stock as I think I will probably be buying more in the future. Great product! Thank you so much!

There was a slight difference in the mounting holes between the replacement platen and the original. The way the replacement platen fit did not allow enough space for movement between the mouse body and the platen. The mounting arms between the body and the platen broke and I had to throw away the entire sander.
