Q: Where do you get the word tamplate from and is possible to test before purchasing the lables?

The Word template is available from the Mr_Label website - be wary that you select the template for the specific label type that you have. Also to prepare your labels on a new Word document using the template - do not write on the template itself. I produced the the Word document, using the template and printed the result on to plain paper as a test.

Q: Can't you just write on them with a pen instead of having to laser pring on them?

I don't see why not - the piece that is printed (written) on gets covered by the sticky clear tape. However, I especially bought these because I wanted the neatness of using the laser printer to produce them. Mr-Label provides a template for the printer on the website. The only issue is wastage - it is unlikely that you'll fill every sheet - there will always be one that is only partially used.

Q: Is the label paper or plastic? Is it weatherproof?

It's plastic. The section for writing on is coated over. I would imagine that it is waterproof if wrapped around tightly
