Cortelco 4-line Expandable Telephone with Caller ID (ITT-2740)

This phone has some great features that fit my needs but..... I had several complaints about the volume. They said they couldn't hear me very well. Other than that it is a great phone. NOW for the cure. The hole allowing your voice to the mike is to small so I just took the cover off of the hand set, carefully removed the mike and drilled that tiny hole out to 1/8" and now everyone hears me just fine. Not one complaint about volume even after asking them if they could hear alright. The cover snaps on really tight on the ends but a screwdriver will get it pried off if you work at it. :-) Hey, anyone can pry with a screwdriver so have at it. What cha got to lose.

If I just wanted a cheap corded phone with no features I could have it a lot cheaper. These seem like they are 20 years out of date, I mean I'd expect this sort of arcane software but not today. Upgraded to a nice Panasonic set which has its failings but at least it can manage flawless hand offs.

I bought 5 of these for my office along with 1 Cortelco 2750. I was very disappointed in all of them. The features were great, but there was quite a bit of static on the line and clients repeatedly said that they could not hear me or my staff very well. With those results I had to return them to Amazon. I purchased the XBlue networks X16 phone system instead and am happy with it. No issues with clients having difficulty hearing us and a very clear line.

Granted I have just been using the phone for a day, I can say it is office phone and not a toy. The brand is known for durability and it does feel like a sturdy piece of equipment. The description of the item reflects correctly what you get.

I purchased these for the office, and they're an unintuitive, convoluted mess. There's just a mess of buttons, and hidden options, and who knows what else. Whoever "designed" these phones doesn't have a clue about designing a user friendly product. This phone has been costing our business time, and efficiency. If you're looking for phones you and your employees can actually use, don't look twice at this monstrosity.
