Reef Octopus NS-80 Nano Protein Skimmer

The media could not be loaded. This skimmer works great, especially in cramped places. It seems people complain it's hard to put together. Just check YouTube. Several vids there and it took me 2 minutes. I got it for $40 which was an amazing deal. It's on my 12 gallon long reef tank.

Instructions were garbage (You Tube to the rescue), material is cheap, it’s noisy, and IT DOESN'T SKIM. I gave it the benefit of the doubt for a few days but it’s only good at one thing...making micro bubbles in my tank. I will be sending this back.

When you drop a box from 2ft and it bursts, that is a good sign that you've done waisted your money. The made in China is very prominent on the box and i won't argue with that. The best directions are the pic on the box, the piece of paper in the box is basically worthless.That being said, i installed this in my nuvo 14 center chamber. Fit was good. Now the deciding factor on whether or not it goes in the trash or not is going to depend on the ability to manage all the micro bubbles it releases (really really bad).

So far the skimmer is working as designed. I rated three stars do to quality. I purchased because of Coralvue and Reef Octopus have alway made high quality components. While less expensive, it is also of poor quality with plastic parts and fit could be better. For the same money I think there are better quality nano skimmers.

Hard to assemble with the instructions but reqlly good once asembled. Put it in a nano tank and works like a charm

Goes where most skimmers can't. Its small enough to fit into the rear area of my Evolve 8.There are only two issues with it, issue one is water level. You have to keep the water level almost precisely at one certain 'sweet spot'. Too high and the skimmer will wet skim too much and fill the cup almost immediately, too low and no skim-mate will be produced (no water will reach the top area of the cup itself).The other issue has to do with that cup overflow. As the cup is small, it can fill quickly if the tank level is too high. For this reason I use the overflow port built into the cup itself, and use airline tubing to send the excess water to a container. While this is great for keeping the cup from overflowing, it takes up space as I have this on my desk at work.Overall though, it's a great skimmer for the price, far better value than some of the options out there that go for two or three times the price.

Great product. Great value. Gets the job done.

LOUD, doesn't work as directed, Hard setup, needs more than blurry pictures for setup instructions. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. 2 week return period over, meaning I'm not getting money back for it now.
