Great USB Bitcoin Miner after Setup
The GekkoScience NEWPAC (Dual BM1387) USB Stickminer hashes at between 13 and 16 M/hs. It's a great stick to mine some bitcoin with a laptop. You won't earn a lot, and payback will take a while depending on your cost of electricity. It may be best used as a remote worker if you are mining on Nicehash or bitcoin pools so that it keeps your hash going if your rigs go down. It takes some effort to set up. The seller, 419Mining, did an excellent job helping me through set up. When the mining software wasn't configured correctly, they actually sent me a text message with the configuration file (cgminer.conf) to run with CGMiner.exe. If you have trouble with installation, set up and configuration, be sure to contact them and they should be very helpful. It can be complicated with installing the Zadig driver software to recognize the WinUSB driver needed for the Stickminer, downloading the CGMiner customized for this Stickminer, and configuring it properly (the .conf file). 419Mining will help you every step of the way. It's up to you to make sure you have a bitcoin wallet and configure your antivirus software correctly to allow mining.

easy way to get into mining
Never tried anything like this before but I was given two of them for Christmas. I already had a 7amp usb hub so it was just a matter of following a few simple instructions and now I have them both running at 300mhz and 65gh/s.I didn't know what any of that meant when I opened them up either but it was neat to learn.

Nice toy, runs very hot, no ROI possible.
First a warning, this thing runs hot enough to burn you if you touch it's heatsink. That's with a fan blowing on it, which is an annoyance because there things need fans and not adding a $1 fan to the heatsink just seems cheap. Without a fan it will most likely burn itself out at anything above stock speed, which is unfortunate very low and I suspect an easy way for gekko to get away with these very small and cheap heatsinks. Your going to run it at least 4x stock speeds for example.Worse, these have no roi. Any hope of making a profit is full running a solo pool and hoping you somehow beat shops with hundreds of Ph/s with your, at most, 80-100Gh ok/s.That said it's a fun little toy. The heat issues are concerning as the bitcointalk forums are full of horror stories of these things burning out if not fanned properly. Even with a fan I suspect they don't last long. Ideally you'd want to attach a larger heatsink. If it helps, mine tops off at 425mhz. The fabled 500-600mhz doesn't seem possible and gekko only officially supports 100mhz. The bitcointalk forum has all the switches and setup info you need. You just need to Google it. The gekko website is useless.

FOR LEARNING
this is the first lays potato chip for bitcoin mining, and was the start to a new hobby, starting from scratch as in knowing nothing about the topic but that you generate money. was a frustrating road, that will lead you down a path of economics, light coding/scripting and most importantly a NOTEPAD Copy and paste pro. next thing yeah know a green and white light pops on and your making little increments of the bitcoin of your choice......very slowly .......but what i learned here for under 100$ i applied to my bigger rig and now wield a larger size hashing pool making just enough to question whether or not to keep going lol

Great lotto stick
Very nice miner. Functions as advertised. I would only recommend fan cooling the unit no matter how high you plan to run it. Make sure you have plans to cool the stick before purchase. I found it would only last about 10 minutes without cooling before the hash rate starts dropping until it stops. (At the factory settings, 22.8gh/s)With minimal fan cooling it stays quite cold, and has been running smooth for a few days now.Plan to buy maybe one or two more in the future. Fun hobby/lotto stick for mining.

Great for learning Bitcoin mining
As most reviews will reveal, this USB miner is for learning to mine or as a lottery stick for Bitcoin (it only takes one hash to win). This little beast can be overclocked to 5 times it's stock rating with proper cooling and enough power supplied to the USB.
