Humes & Berg 113 Stonelined Trixie Plunger Rubber Trumpet Mute

I'm not one to get bogged down in cosmetics when it comes to functional items and I'll review this for quality after my 12yr old receives this for Christmas. If you look at the diaplay photo of this mute vs. What I got, you can see where the initial 3 starts come from. Can't tell if it's white with a shoddy red paint job or the other way around but either way, it's a pretty shabby looking product.

This mute is okay, but I like my plunger from the hardware store better. This one is little too rigid. The swirl pattern is a little messy looking. I can understand wanting a more "professional looking" plunger mute, but this isn't it.

Top-notch mute from a top-notch American company. I have used the "hardware store" plungers and they work great and are perfect for those who only use them a couple times a year. If you use a plunger regularly do yourself a favor and spend a few more bucks on this mute. You will not regret it. There is serious thought in the design and shape of this plunger. The ring is EXTREMELY handy for quick changes and/or to keep the mute close by.

When I spent $27.99 on this and bought 8 of them for my trumpet players in band, I expect them to look nicer than they do. Some came with white and red. Others came without the white and are yellowed and red...unpainted. Disappointed. Will need to paint them myself.

Used by my high schooler in jazz band. He chose this because it's what everyone else has and meets its purpose. (I wanted the more inexpensive option.)

I got this for my son for his jazz band as he plays a mean trumpet. He loves it. Easier to negotiate than a regular plunger, he says. Plus I can see him from the audience with the red in his trumpet.

Needed this for one of my jazz tunes...or a plunger...but what girl wants to hang onto a plunger when they can hang onto a pretty red and white swirly cup. Works well! Really like the finger ring.

It needed to be washed when I received it, as it appears to have mold (form) release talc on it. Otherwise, it works as expected.
