Stronger than regular peppermint oil
I actually like this. The minty smell is strong & I've been using it to repel rodents. It's more stronger than the regular peppermint oil. Although, I didn't expect for the container to be small. I was expecting a little bit bigger. But overall, it works!

Strong peppermint smell worked great
I use this peppermint essential oil mainly for keeping insects away, and it works very well for that purpose. The scent is very strong and noticeable, which makes it effective for what I needed it for. The bottle was smaller than I expected when it arrived, so I would recommend paying close attention to the listed size before purchasing. That said, a little goes a long way because the oil is so concentrated, so it has still lasted me a good amount of time. Overall, itโs a strong, effective peppermint oil that does the job, just be mindful of the bottle size when ordering.

Works well enough for my intended use.
Like many others I got this for Insect control. ( in portable toilets / plastic outhouses in my case). I put about 1/2 oz to a pint of water and use from a sprayer. (you have to use a good sprayer, it will make an cheap sprayer not work in a week or less.) It separates fairly quickly, so you do have to shake if before each use. I've found it works well for flying insects (residual effect I think), and good for direct contact for Spiders and Ants. It does not kill them, just repels them instantly. Unfortunately there is not enough residual to keep the spiders or ants away for long, unless I really flood the specific place they are at. (I need to try cotton ball stuffed into the crack they come in, or try spraying uncut?) Also had an issue with earwigs at a few locations, and this did seem to run them off after a few treatments. (BTW: earwigs can live a year or more, unlike most insects with short life spans... and they can give a nasty sting.) I see many of you are using for Mice. I have no issues with mice, so can't say regarding them. Yes, if you just open the container and smell, it's a bit solvently smelling. But once mixed in water and sprayed, it smells very strong and pepperminty. I've had many people say they like it after we spray in the freshly cleaned toilet, (kids are the best when they come out and describe to their parents or older sibling). Unfortunately the scent does not last very long. Maybe a hour at best. However, it is very hot now, (100+) so maybe once temps drop to the low 90s or stay in the 80s or below, the scent may remain longer. Of course insects become much less of an issue here once temps stay below mid 80s. Bottom line: I've just about run out and will be ordering more.

Gets rid of Chicago Rats
I used this as a rat deterrent in Chicago when traps and sonic noise, etc of all kinds did not work for 2 years straight. We are in between restaurants and construction dug up a nest nearby, so Iโd walk outside at 6pm and theyโd already be out waddling around our yard like they owned the place. Every single night and then every morning I would have to go out and clean up the rat poop trails before allowing our kid to play on the back patio. It was absurd and I was not gonna let another summer go by having to live like this! I poured 1/3 of the bottle every night around the patio perimeter, later reordered and sprayed the patio perimeter with a 16 oz glass spray bottle to make it easier and less messy. Itโs been 8 days straight of 0 rat poop trails! Every morning I wake up surprised and amazed after 2 years of Chicago rats! Itโs very strong so make sure to keep it in a well ventilated area like outdoors where pets or toddlers wonโt ingest or walk barefoot. Indoors we will use a diluted spray, but our biggest concern was stopping the poop trails which were โtellingโ the rats it was safe route. My hope is we will do this for a while longer then possibly switch to clove oil so bees wonโt get attracted to the mint scent during the day and ruin daytime enjoyment too. So, if you are in Chicago and know these issues, then you know most things rarely work and nothing works this quickly. ***Update: itโs been a little over two months since I left the review. The pure peppermint oil definitely seemed to work best. The rats stayed away. They co tinted in our neighbors yards or u see neighbors car hoods, but steered clear of our patio and parking spot. We eventually switched to a rodent spray/peppermint/diluted version and yes itโs kept them from re-forming trails and tracks, but they donโt seem *as* completely bothered to stay far away like when we used this pure oil in the beginning. I 100% will forever stand by the fact that this oil absolutely helped cut and eliminate their tracks and ensured we didnโt have to worry about them getting close by to our space anymore. I will be reordering this product again to continue keeping them away and give ourselves a restful summer.

Three stars due to the container and the smell. (But not entirely useless)
Don't confuse this with the peppermint that smells like candy. This stuff is like menthol laquer thinner. It is not like a holiday candle, and not something you want in a diffuser inside your house... Unless you have rats i guess. This stuff will chase them away. It is effective outdoors to deter pests like rodents and insects. There are a fair number of wasps in our area. I mixed this sludge with wax in one of those wax smell good melting things. It worked well as a diffuser on our back patio and it seemed to keep the wasps away... until I forgot to turn on the diffuser for a week or so. I also dilute it with water in a spray bottle and spray it around the garage doors so I can do woodwork and such in the garage without wasps flying in. Does the job. I threw a bunch of wood chips & sawdust into an empty jar, then added a mixture of 80% water & 20% peppermint oil. (Mix in another container with a drop or two of dish soap so the oil & water will mix). After the liquid was absorbed I put the wood chips and sawdust into old socks and stashed them where I've seen rodents. Haven't seen any evidence of rodent activity since. This jug is a poor choice for this liquid. You cannot pour from this jug without it dribbling all over the place. Considering the scent and potency, dribbling this swill all over the wife's kitchen counter was not popular. Consider using a dropper if you have one. I used a straw. No I didn't suck it out of the container... i insert the straw into the jug, cover the end with my finger, and move the liquid to the desired location... all the while keeping everything over a piece of cardboard in case of drips. Overall, if you're looking for pest control, this is a good value. If you want the smell of peppermint candy, this isn't it. FYI, mentha piperita oil smells like candy, mentha arvensis (which is what this is) smells like menthol paint thinner. People advertise both as peppermint oil. I learned that from this purchase. I was so revolted by the smell that I spent four hours on Google learning how/why/if I screwed up. Well, I did and I now know why. It would be nice if they provided a basic recommended dilution chart or guidelines of some sort.

I love it
I purchased this item over a year ago when it was slightly less expensive. It has a delightful, strong scent and offers great value for the price. I highly recommend it and would definitely buy it again.

Effective, in diffuser. sleep with breaths/sense of calm. use the 16 oz , bit expensive but worth it
this is really effective in my diffuser. It sends me to sleep with breaths/sense of calm and great contentment. The Larger 16 oz is a bit expensive but it is worth for the perceived benefits and facilitates me using it genourously

DIY Peppermint Pest Rejectors
Was pleasantly surprised by the delivery speed, I had ordered the item in advance of my need, it came, faster than was indicated at time of purchase. Again pleasantly encouraged when upon opening the peppermint oil, it smelled like undiluted Peppermint. Again, as claimed by the seller. I have used it in some DIY Pest Rejectors, placed strategically, throughout the kitchen. I closed off the longevity, simply because I haven't had the product long enough to assess longevity, however, as long as the product performs as I think it will, the value is good, and I will be re-ordering this product. Seems to be working for us, however, my wife doesn't like the smell, she does like the absence of the mice.
